Killer BEEZ
 

I have finally calmed down enough to tell you about my ordeal yesterday. I was riding along mowing my lawn. It's about 90 degrees, I'm sweating like crazy, and suddenly I felt a hot searing burn right in my left breast area. It seriously felt like a hot ember had landed. No camp fires around so I tore at my blouse to see what was wrong. There inside my shirt was a huge wasp, with its stinger still deep within me. I am not wearing anything under my baggy shirt, so this wasp has injected his stinger into a very tender area of my flesh. One not normally bared while I mow either!

A wasp is still a bug so I have a double fear of a bug on me and this searing pain which seems to be multiplying. I flail with my arms, alternating between grabbing inside my shirt, my legs are thrashing wildly, the mower is going awry from my usual neat rows. I am screaming at the top of my lungs but no one is home. I hope the neighbors were gone too as I am sure I was putting on quite a show by this time. I finally get the wasp trapped in folds of my shirt and render him senseless enough to drop to the ground. By then I have come off my seat enough the mower cut off. So I run inside for the sting kit, break open one of those little vials and rub the stuff on my sting. It is swelling, getting very red and creating a little knot, with the darker sting site in the middle. Looks sort of like...... oh no! Put on my bathing suit and jumped in the pool for a little cooling off and time to regain my composure. My son noticed the mower out in the yard today and asked if it quit working. I told him no, I just needed a break.......

Now the dang thing is itching. arrggggghhhhh! Killer beezzz.......

Oh my goodness!! I hope you are doing better today. I have to confess, had to laugh out loud when I read this. I would have probably wrecked the mower! You poor thing!!! :(

Ouch! I do have to say, you did a great job of narrating your story. I pictured it all in my head...except, I would have just taken my shirt off I'm sure.. Hope your breast is feeling better...:)

Oh yea, ... where do you get the sting kit? Walmart?

Yes, Walmart! Doesn't everything come from there -- lol! They have two kinds: The little vials that you snap to release the medicine, and then one end is a cotton dauber; and the other kinds are like little towelettes -- sort of like the alcohol swabs they use before giving a shot. We have both kinds here as we have so many wasps and bees. I'm the one telling everyone to just leave them alone and they will leave you alone. HA! Only until they crawl down your shirt that is!

I probably would have wrecked it too except it has an automatic cut-off when your weight comes off the seat. I am sure if anyone was out and about in the neighborhood, they too, were laughing out loud. I had to laugh at myself once the sting calmed down. Until then I was not thinking it funny at all. :D

Omg..... I seriously would have probably took my shirt off, not even giving it a second thought, just out of reflex!! Woo-hoo!

Yep! Then the neighbors really would have seen the whole enchilada! No bra ~ starring right at ya! Yeee Haaaw!

LOL:D Me too! I probably would have started screaming as well....all the neighbours would have been treated to the sight of me topless and diving around the garden like a mad woman!:rolleyes:

Ohhh Deb...i hate to laugh at this...but i was giggling during your story. It reminded me of a time when my husband and I were in Italy. Hubby is deathly afraid of bee's and wasps. And now that you mention walmart sells Wasp kits...i'm soooooooo going to buy him one as a joke LoL

But all kidding aside...be careful when you get stung.....if you had an allergic reaction and stopped breathing...the pool isnt exactly the safest place to be. I'm glad you are safe!!!!

Your story reminded me of one when I was growing up and we had about 10 people in my mom's Vega Station Wagon (no seat belt law then), summertime, windows all open. Mom was driving and all of a sudden starts screaming and doing a little dance in her seat. Needless to say, the car was swerving all over the road. She finally pulls over, lifts up her rear, pulls down the waist of her sorts and she had gotten stung on the buttocks while driving!!!!

Whoa -- that would be worse and definately more dangerous!

I remember those days of crowding everyone in! No one ever got left behind. We actually sat waiting for another driver to get there so we could get kids to summer camp last year. We had one too many kids for the number of seat belts with the vehicles that showed up. Don't dare go over that now. How did we ever survive? ;)

I feel your PAIN and ITCH. Almost the same thing happened to me last summer. I was mowing the lawn with a push mower. All of a sudden I felt stinging sensation on the back of my upper thigh. I mowed over a nest of yellow jackets that live in the ground. Now they're diving for me, I'm slapping them off my legs, swinging my arms around my face so I don't get stung there. Thought about tearing my shorts off but didn't want to scare the neighbors. I ended up getting stung about 30 times all over my legs and arms. I'm kind of paranoid now whenever I mow the lawn. I never want to have another close encounter with a nest of bees.

Ouch! I absolutely am terrified of bugs...I would've freaked out, probably fainted!! When there's a moth or some insane bug in the house...I call for my Momo & he tries to catch it for me!:D Deb...I hope you're feeling better.:)

I'm that way with those pesky June Bugs.. They grab onto you and feel like they're biting.. Drives me insane and I run around like a banshee.. From your description, now I know what I must look like.. LOL

I absolutely HATE wasps and bees! Ugh!

When I was 6 years old, we were all playing outside and we stepped on a yellow jackets hive in the ground. Unknowingly, of course. I had close to THIRTY yellow jackets all over my body, in my clothes, they were everywhere. I still remember that day, it was awful.

LOL.When my mom was able to move around, she had her own version of the "bee dance." It was SO funny.


June bugs are SO disgusting. I run like crazy from them, too.

When I was a teenager, my folks had some relatives or someone over and I was outside - it had just gotten dark. Well, all of a sudden I felt something crawling on my leg inside my pants. I totally panicked and took my pants off. :yelrotflmI made sure they were bug free, put them on, ran inside the house and put something different on. I could never look at those pants quite the same way again. LOL. I think our company thought I was just a bit crazy. :cool:

Thanks for all the stories that make my one wasp not seem so bad. Thanks also for the sympathies for my mowing ordeal. I think this wasp decided to unload all of its venom in my boob because it has left a huge red spot and the entry site is larger than usual too. It looks like a red egg cracked open frying on me. Most of the swelling has gone down but it itches like crazy! And this is the second day after now.

I have Wasp Spray on the shopping list and I am going to go hunting those nests later this week. We have another ball game tonight so it will have to wait. But those wasps days are numbered, I tell ya!

And June bugs! OOoohhhh! I can't stand those things either. Not smart enough to get away from you, and they have all those little clingy claw like things on their legs. Yuck! We have a nuisance bug that makes my Top Five List too -- Love bugs. They don't sting, or claw, but they are the dumbest bugs in the world! They will not be shooed away. You have to kill the dang things and they are all mating so when you kill one, you kill two. I guess they get oblivious during the act. I spray my front porch and you would think that would keep them away, but no, they just keep coming and dying all over my porch so I have to keep sweeping them away. I would take another wasp sting if the good Lord would just tell me what purpose he had in mind for those idiotic bugs! No offense!

Gotta admit...I LOL'd too reading your story haha. Pictured the whole thing in my head! I probably would've ripped the shirt right off!

I've only been stung once in my life. I was probably 7 years old and I was going over to my neighbors house. I saw a bee in the distance and thought the good ol' saying - don't bother it, it won't bother you. Next thing I know there's a horrible pain in my side and I was rolling on the ground screaming my fool head off! My dad came running outside - he thought I got hit by a car! haha. Turns out the darn thing tagged me 3 times before he really stung me!

I don't know if wasps die when they sting you, but I've always thought it was kinda satisfying to know that at least bees die after they hurt ya! :p

I had one get stuck in the back part of my shirt while DH and I were out on the motorcycle and could not get him to understand that I was being stung and he needed to pull over....Thank God I had my epi-pen b/c I am allergic and the little booger managed to sting me 5 times...I didn't realize that he was in there and kept leaning back on my seat making him mad over being squashed and then he would sting me again...those things are never fun

DITTO THAT! So sorry, but you really SHOULD be a writer!! Seriously, though i DO hope you are feeling better now. If it were me, it would probably be the LAST mower ride!!!:D
