Teen Kills Kitten in Oven

On June 3, ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Agents arrested Cheyenne Cherry, a 17-year-old resident of the Bronx, for allegedly killing a two-month-old kitten by burning her to death in an oven. In addition to cruelty to animals, Cherry was charged with multiple counts of burglary, arson and criminal mischief. Under New York State law, Cherry is considered an adult and faces more than 10 years in prison if convicted of all charges.

Cherry admits that she broke into the home of an ex-roommate on May 6 with the intent to "play a joke and mess up her apartment." Cherry and an accomplice allegedly threw bleach on the walls of the apartment, slashed furniture and stole various items. Before leaving, the pair put the victim's kitten, Tiger Lily, into the hot oven.

When police arrived at the Bronx apartment to investigate smoke complaints, Tiger Lily was found dead. Her remains were taken to ASPCA Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital, where veterinarians had to perform a necropsy to determine the sex of the badly burned kitten.

According to Joseph Pentangelo, Assistant Director of ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement, Cherry's explanation for placing the kitten in the oven was simply: "I hate cats."

Oh no. When I read these things it makes me sick. :(:mad: I am so afraid of what people are becoming. How, how, how could someone be so cruel?

Ann, I heard this last week on the news and the things that came
out of my mouth even surprised me.
I cried for day's imagining the horror of what that poor kitten went
threw.
This story is so very upsetting. When the news showed her picture
fooling around with a stupid smirk on her face I swear I wanted
to hurt her, I really did! Just to get even with someone she made
this beautiful innocent kitten suffer.
This girl needs to be locked away!

That is absolutely disgusting and inhumane to say the least! :eek:
I consider children like that serial killers in the making, but it also makes me wonder what that child has endured in her life that has made her so cruel and down right sick in the head.:confused:

BTW, Hi I'm new here and the luving momma to two yorkie's.

i'm a firm believer of an eye for an eye!!! that's a sick sick person to do that to any living creature.

It is absolutely unbelieveable that humans have so little regard for life. How horrifying that these kids grew up to be such monsters. I sincerely hope that these girls are found guilty and are given the most severe sentence allowed. I also hope that they are forbidden for life from having a pet of any kind -- ever.

The title alone made me shiver....

I know, I feel the same as all of you. I can barely comment. I can't even allow my brain to consider what this innocent creature went through. :(

i can't think about this either. but i sure wouldn't mind if something horrible happens to that 17-year-old monster, like burned to death in an oven or something. :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown
