I just have one more thing to add. You don't always know what the attacker's intentions are, and often even they don't know. Even with people. Sometimes it's just a blind rage. The only time I've ever jumped in the middle of a fight was when I saw a teenage boy literally choking his girlfriend to death. I was thrown against a brick wall and hurt, but it shocked him enough that he stopped. I was his favorite teacher, and he still lashed out. So, I can't say that I would only shoot an animal that was "trying to kill" one of mine, because how do you know? I also know of large dogs (and people for that matter) who have critically injured others by accident as well. |
Wow, that is scary! Cindy I'm so glad your horses are ok, you and your yorkies are ok, and the kids down the street are ok. It could have been so tragic. I hope the warning and visit by the Animal Control resolve the issue. Have you heard anything back from the neighbors or AC, or are you able to see if they have the proper restraint (fencing or whatever) for their dogs? |
Hey little fris, you tell my nephews that they have the right to protect those precious babies. Hell's bell's those dogs were probably as big as those babies. I certainly enjoyed our visit. Love you |
First, I wanna say to the person that said you can't "get a pit off when he's attacking"... that you're wrong. Because I have broken a dog fight involving a pit bull WITHOUT using a weapon... and he didn't bite me. In fact, my dog (not my pit bull) was more dangerous than he was... that comment, to me, just perpetuates the stereotypes about the breed that I hate to hear and makes them sound like they're bloodlust... sad, really... I could never shoot any animal, honestly. Though, I would shoot AT them if I had livestock and they were attacking my livestock. Usually, the sound of the gun itself scares a dog away. That being said, I believe that you CAN legally shoot a dog for attacking your livestock. Last I heard, anyway. I'm sorry about what happened to your horses. <3 Poor things must've been scared to death. |

Fortunately I haven't seen them again. I sincerely hope that the dogs are being well taken care of and for goodness sakes I hope that lactating bitch gets more to eat. |
Oh boy that is just so freaking scary, glad that everyone is ok:animal-pa |
