Great Discount Meds
 
I found a great website to order heart worm meds and flea meds at a substantial discount, they are based in Australia but all meds are exatly the same they just come in a different packaging. I just got heartworm meds for my guys Interceptor it was $28 for 6 month supply and that includes air mail. I've also got frontline 6 month supply from them for around $40 - $45. And they don't require a script on the heartworm meds. Of course mine have a current negative heartworm test but, the price is unbelieveable so, I wanted to share it with you guys.

There are so many reasons why i would not purchase from a site like this.

1) The packaging is different from the ones you get from your vet. Recently counterfeit products of Frontline and Advantage have been found on the market and they were making pets sick and possibly killing them. The only safe products are the ones you can get from your vet.

2) If something happens to your pet and its related to the medication the pharmaceutical company will only pay for treatment if the products were purchased from your veterinarian.

3) Heartworm medication is a prescription medication. And if you find somewhere you can get it without a Rx don't you find that a little fishy? I wouldn't trust prescription meds purchased this way.

4) You have to wonder WHY its so heavily discounted... just doesn't seem right.

All good questions which I asked as well. I did research and the packaging is different because it is from another country and that is why the price is also different.

Here is a link to a website that I found that tells you how you can tell if you got counterfit pet meds. The ones I got meet all the criteria on the list for legitimate pet meds.

I want to thank you so much for the info you gave me.

According to this I purchased the real thing. I do understand where you are coming from. You can never be to careful. I purchased the frontline plus instead of the regular frontline.

:confused: I just had my kids in for their heartworm test (negative:)), and got a 12 month supply of Interceptor tablets for $39.00. I think I got a better deal...:thumbup: unless I'm reading something wrong.

You definitely got a better deal by a few dollars. I got a 12 month supply as well, I had to get 2 different sizes the small and the next size. My male is right at the weight limit for the small which is 10lbs for those of youthat don't know so my vet suggested to get the next size up in just in case that the dosage wasn't that much difference to hurt him.

Anywya, sorry to get off topic I tend to ramble sometimes. The total for each 6 month supply was almost $22 but, I got them at 2 different times so, it ended up being $28 for each order.

Did you get your's from your vet?

If, God forbid, something were to happen to your pet, chances are the pharmaceutical company will not pay for treatment anyway. Afterall, they are not known for their ability to compensate anyone, as evidenced with human medication problems the companies have had in the past. It often takes a class action lawsuit to get the pharmaceutical companies to take any responsibility.

I don't question at all that you can gets the same meds from other sources outside the U.S. for a less expensive price. Many people on limited income have had to resort to ordering their prescriptions from Canada for this very reason. The pharmaceutical companies charge more here because they can get away with it. It seems fishier (and unconscionable) to me that the companies will sell their products cheaper to foreign markets.
I'm not arguing you don't have to be careful and do research when ordering meds from outside U.S. sources. But, I do know there are legitimate foreign sources and you can save a lot of money. I've used an Australian firm for flea meds now for over three years and had no problems.

Also, with heartworm meds, it is imperative you get your dog (s) tested before giving the meds. I'm not suggesting in any way to fore go the testing, but after a clear test, I see no problem in using the meds from a legitimate, trusted (not China definitely) foreign market.

Once I looked at it the packaging was not different. And I do know that the dogs have to be heartworm tested. I've had dogs since I was a child. I also know that you weren't arguing that you were just concerned.
