Woke up with bites Has anyone ever woken up with strange things on their body? Not a lot but sometimes i have woken up with bruises, scratches or bites(i think insect bites lol) on my body and i have no recolection of getting them. Like a couple weeks ago i woke up with a big scratch on my leg and i remember taking a shower in the morning and it stinging, thats when i noticed it. Also bruises that i dont remember getting just show up, i often think what the heck, did i fight a battle in my sleep? lol And today i woke up with 3 bites on my lower abdomen, they look like insect bites but not mosquito bites...weird. Does this ever happen to ppl or it is just me? |
Are they flea bites? |
i don't know..i dont think so..i havent seen any fleas on the dogs or noticed any scratching. They itch and are diff. sizes, i often wonder if they are bedbug bites but i check for that and never see any. I'm also very clean and constantly washing my sheets, etc. so i have no idea what they are from |
Yep, I've woken up with scratches and bruises. I put the scratches down to the dogs running over me and catching me with their nails and the bruises I pay little attention too because I'm anemic and the slightest knock makes a huge purple bruises. Quote:

Google image search bed bug bites, just to rule them out. A few months ago my husband was traveling for work and woke up with bed bug bites. He didn't know what they were at the time but when he got home I searched and there was no mistaking them- they're pretty distinct. It was at a pretty nice Hilton too so it makes you feel like you aren't safe anywhere. He had to throw his suitcase away to be safe (as recommended by Hilton) and thank goodness he didn't bring them home. |
My friend lived in Manhatten, this is gross but there were alot of Rats in her area, she was very very very clean but the area outside kind of had a rat problem, she kept waking up with mystery bites on her, she contacted an exterminator and found out she had rat fleas in her house?:eek::eek: I know they are common in down town Boston too.. she too has a Yorkie he didnt have fleas..:eek: |
If any of you have been in a grassy area you could have got chiggers the itch like the devil and it takes a few days for the itching to go away Betty & Micah my love:aimeeyork |
I did hear on the news in Florida, that there was an outbreak of bed bugs. And with us having sooo much rain lately, I have been washing my sheets every few days, just to make sure I don't get them. Not sure how you get them??? |

BTW, my husband got the bedbug bites in Minnesota. eta: The scariest thing I read about them is that they can go up to 14 days between "feedings" so you won't always get bitten every night. It was at least 3 weeks before I relaxed and knew he hadn't brought any home. |
Spider bites are also a thought. Check your mattress and underneath to make sure there are no webs. Those bugger's can nest anywhere. |

wow, I didn't think about that. I don't travel very much, so that part is ok. I know with all the rain here in Florida, we now have to watch out for a little bit of everything. We have had rain for the last 5 days. Ick! |

Definitely check under the bed for spiders. My guess would be a spider or fleas. That bedbug thing is scary. I've heard about 'bed bugs' in sayings, but didn't know they actually existed. |
The thought of bedbugs creep me out. I know if i ever did find any, i know where to call cause i always see these commercials on bedbug exterminators and their beagle sidekick:p But i really hope i dont have them, however the bites recently were from my bf's house so im going to tell him to check his bed. But he hasnt gotten bitten, only i have:confused: i always get bitten when i go on vacation too, they just love my blood. |
I've never seen them either (and don't want to), but after seeing this thread, I went in and stripped my bed again, and washed everything in HOT water. LOL!!! I think it's just the thought. |

eta: from what I've read they are really hard to find because they are so small and kind of clear. They hide in the seams of the mattress. It's probably easiest to identify them by bites. Gawd I can't believe I know anything about bedbugs. Anyway, whatever the source, aren't you lucky to be so sweet and inviting to whatever it is?:p |
Now I know why people vaccumn their mattresses. :thumbdown |

I know when I had a sudden flea infestation from my INDOOR cat a number of years back (must have either been from the windows where the neighbour's cats sometimes comes close to or from my dog at some point) I was the only one getting bitten for a while until, I believe, one day, the bf got bitten too. I started off with only a few bites on my stomach as well. |
