Antique Collectors??? So in preparation for my mom and grandma moving we were cleaning out their attic. The house they live in used to be my great grandmothers. Anyway we found tons of stuff. Here's the list... A complete set of Kaysons Golden Rhapsody pattern china... Made in Japan circa 1961 A set of Edwin Knowles Golden Wheat pattern china... circa 1941, I believe Multiple sets of Homer Laughlin Golden Wheat glassware... 4 oz and 10 oz An antique typewriter in a brown leather case... A silverware set that I have yet to track down the origins of... Several antique ladies hats.... And there's still more! So my mom and grandma are interested in selling it all but have no clue of its worth or how to find someone to buy it. Does anyone have any ideas or know anything about antiques? |
Have you tried googling it? You may be able to find some of the items on the internet. Or call your local antique dealer. Good luck! I love antiques!! |
My entire house is furnished with antiques. I don't collect china nor glass though. Here's a good site to use... Collector's Price Guide, Search Antiques & Collectibles Price Info by Category And another.... Antique and Collectible Mall: TIAS.com: Antiques and Collectibles You can browse ebay also. I will tell you the really highly collected antiques are still selling for a pretty penny on there. You can also hire an apprasier to come to your home. The silver may be worth more selling it to be melted down. Good luck treasure hunting...hope you have an original rembrandt hidden there. LOL |
Thought of something else...it's likely there is an auction house located there..that will include your items in their weekly auctions for a fee. Or you can hold a living estate sale. You don't price it and you don't physically sit there and sell it. The fee is based on a percentage of your sales. Other services will buy the ENTIRE lot from you if you have enough of value. |
Thanks for the links Deb! I'm so excited. I did a little research and it ooks like the glassware can go for $6 a piece for the small glasses and $12 a piece for the larger ones. The teapot alone from one of the china sets is worth $50. I didn't count all the plates but they are selling for about $10 a piece. My mom and grandma are going to be thrilled. I think I'm gonna call around and see if any local antique dealers are interested. |

Just remember those are price guides only...and dependant on finding someone willing to pay that too. I'll say this...if you have complete sets of china. DO NOT BREAK IT UP TO SELL SEPERATELY. It is more valuable all together because it is rare to find a complete set. Good luck ~ |
What are friends for if not for free advice??? We're selling all the junk (ALOT) at a garage sale this weekend so we're gonna call some antique dealers sometime next week. |
I would LOVE to buy the typewriter. If you find out what it's worth and would be willing to sell it to me, I'd love to get it for my daughter. :D |
