Out of Touch Whew, you don't realize just how much you are dependent/hooked on the computer until you don't have access to it. Between my verizon service going to pot and my computer having issues since we got it I couldn't get on the internet very well. It was taking forrreevveerr to get onto a site. So after waiting 2 WHOLE days for verizon to come out and say that it was something at the junction box a mile away (at least there was a real issue and not just my imagination) and $140.00 later my computer is just about running great. Still got some quirks and oh yeah, don't have a couple of programs/applications that I had before. I'd gotten some graphics applications awhile ago and now I don't know where/who I'd gotten them from. So now I may have to spend more money to get them back. Ugh! The worst of it all is that, being a conscientious person, I'd opted to do my bills online and have gone paperless on just about all of my bills, well, I didn't have any payment invoices or addresses or anything like that to pay bills! It is scary to think just how automated things are. Fortunately I have everything listed out but to have to maneuver through all the sites and using hubby's laptop when I could get it, but then you have to answer all the security questions to be able to access the site cause of a "foreign" computer. And then I couldn't get onto YT for awhile either! Just wanted to say, be careful and back everything up cause you just don't realize how dependent you've grown on your computer til you don't have it! |
As I said before, it's really great to see you posting again...I agreewith you in that you have to back up everything. Usually I back my stuff on 3 places just in case. One of them is humyo.com and it's an online backing service. It's great, I have used it for quite a while and it works great. And another benefit to it is that you can access it from anywhere because it's online. Missed ya girl Maria xxxx |
Having no computer is a nightmare I would wish upon no one!! I do everything on it, and when it goes down, I usually do too! Glad to see you back. |

I am going to have to look into that. It's more of a nuisance than anything to have to think of all the websites and passcodes and all of that! It would be so easy and nice if you could use the same password for every website. Quote:
Well, I've learned my lesson and have the addresses and phone #s that I would need just in case this should happen again. Some one once recommended that you xerox everything in your wallet just in case you lost it. I have to admit, I wouldn't remember everything in my wallet. I've got all sorts of stuff!. |
Bo, I am so glad that you are "back with us". It's funny how you quietly "miss people" when you don't see them posting. I know exactly how you feel -- when I was in Florida at the WIRELESS CONVENTION I couldn't get connected -- go figure -- a wireless convention and no wireless connection :rolleyes::rolleyes:. |

Not being on-line is the worst! When we left San Diego it took 5 days to get here, And another 3 weeks to find how to get internet here. I missed my computer so much it was really getting to me. Now that we are here, and sort of unpacked:rolleyes: well I'm glad to be back too. It was a rough year trying to pack the house up and deal with our 3 & 4 year old Grand Children. I don't think I ever want to move again. Thanks for the reminder,I'm going to do a back up on this computer today. I don't think I'll ever find the disk from the last back up. |
