You California Gals... Hey everyone! I am choosing Gradate schools right now and I want everyone from CA to tell me how wonderful their city is! Oringinally I was going to go to San Diego (which is still my #1) but I have to accept that I might not get into the only school that I apply for. Give me so input and tell me why I should move to wonderful CA! HERE I COME!! Thanks! :) Hannah |
Well, I have lived in California since I was 12 and I lived in a lot of states before that but I consider California my home. I love the entire state but I lived in Nor Cal until 5 years ago when I moved to San Diego!! Of course everyone knows the weather is perfect here and it is a great vacation location so it is like being on vacation when you live here...it really is...i mean the beaches, the shopping, the entertainment, the retaurants...what's not the love.....? Well, what's not to love? The traffic and the prices. It is expensive to live here and like any other major city it is difficult everyday during rush hour to get anywhere quickly. It would be great if you came here and joined our yorkie meet up group. There are about 25 dogs and we meet at a dog park once month and it is just so much fun. This Saturday we are meeting and having Hefner's first B-Day Party!! |
I was born in Ca and moved back from Alaska the summer before my senior year. Lived in southern Ca the whole time until 2 years ago my fiance & I moved up to Northern Ca. We are moving out of state because the cost of living is ridiculous, not to mention the ridiculous laws in this state. The ONLY good thing about the state is the weather. I lived in San Diego for a year and have to say that's my favorite part of the state and if I had to recommend one city in the state, that would be my recommendation. I have to warn you though (and I'm sure you've researched) it's gotta be one of the most expensive places to live in the country... I lived in a studio apt for the year I was down there and my rent was $900/month. And it wasn't even in the 'nicest' part of town either... I have a very good friend who lives there now in who's renting (I can't imagine anyone other than drs/lawyers can afford a house down there now) and is paying $1500/month to rent a 2 bedroom duplex... It's insane |
i live in california....... but....... i have to say, i am totally not used to "big city atmosphere" .... i get nervous in LA and sandiego (yeah... that is big for me) ...... i prefer the "small town areas" like san clemente (where my parents live...... and areas likt that.... i like san juan, mission viejo ect.... cal state fullerton is about 30 minuits away (this is the school i go to) , i will be entering my postbachler program in the spring :) |
why not make a trip I have to say Southern Ca is way over priced i love Davis and Sacramento but Northern CA is Great the price of living here has not blown up i was able to buy a home in Nor CAl for a dooable price the neigbors bring me veggies and i take them home made bread the kids come over and help me clean up after a long day of grooming and start my eve walking of the kids for me !!! |

Oh man I get so excited thinking about moving there!...and joing the meet up! It sounds so fun! A few people have commented on San Diego and I have my heart set on it, but I'm not trying to do that because it's not gauranteed that I will get into the school...Thanks to everyone for their input!
