Remember CHOPSTIX? From: Lauren Steinhauer <laurenszoo@yahoo.com> Subject: Chopstix is BACK! and needs our HELP again! To: laurenszoo@yahoo.com Date: Tuesday, April 28, 2009, 3:35 PM Well, Chopstix is back yet again asking for help. If you don't remember Chopper from her first request, check out her first posting here Adopted Chihuahua: Chopstix-HELP!: Petfinder . Through the generosity of strangers, we were able to get Chopstix' many orthopedic issues addressed, and after a year in our care, we placed her in what should have been her forever home. Chopper has been living "the good life" for the first time in her life, but now her existence is yet again in jeopardy and she needs to ask for assistance. Because of the nature of Chopper's original injuries, she received a lot of orthopedic x-rays but never any chest x-rays. Why? Because at the time there was nothing wrong with her breathing, and we were already exposing her very tiny body to a lot of repeat radiation. Now, we have discovered that Chopstix suffered a diaphragmatic hernia from her original abuse. The vet is totally shocked that the hole in her diaphragm has not caused her more issues than it has before now. This is a life-threatening issue, and Chopper needs yet another surgery asap. The estimate is $2600, and there is only one vet in town who has the specialized equipment that Chopstix requires in order to be anesthetized for such a delicate procedure. Please, we are begging yet again for your generosity. Chopstix has overcome so much in her past. It would be a real shame to lose her now when we know that she can be fixed. Adopt a Chihuahua: Chopstix is Back!: Petfinder Permission granted to Crosspost this plea FAR AND WIDE. With the economy where it currently is, donations have been slow even for our other rescues. And please remember that NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL! Thanks again for your help...Chopper really does deserve yet another chance to defy fate :) Lauren Steinhauer Lauren's Zoo Special Interest Adoptions ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!! SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR NEIGHBORS PETS!! LAURENSZOO.ORG LAURENSZOO.ORG LAURENSZOO.ORG I hope this is ok to post. I was concerned due to the request for donations but since Chopstix has been on YT in the past I wanted to share this e-mail that I received for helping her once again. Some of you may remember her story. It's here on YT. Just do a search above under Chopstix. Admin if this is not ok to post please remove. My conscience would not allow me not too. |
She uses Choptix as a fundraising venture...jmho. The first link clearly states donations will be used to assist other animals in their care. Lauren's Zoo Special Interest Adoptions |

For example, my family donates to the North Shore Animal League. They have one dog name - Harry - and Harry stands for all the needy dogs they have in their shelter. There is no actual Harry. I don't know the story behind this, so maybe that's not what's going on here. but I'm pretty sure that's what Deb meant. |
Thank you Carol!! I have often wondered whatever happened to this little one and couldn't find anything [I'm not good at searching online]. I pray that little Chopstix gets the help she needs and is finally able to live a long and happy life!:thumbup: |

No that's not what I meant, Megan. If you read the first story in there...they used donations for other animals in their care. This dog has been adopted by someone. Unfortunately the new owner apparently can't afford his veterinary expenses either....or they were so successful raising money with his story the last time...they've chosen this route again. I think it's fine if someone wants to donate but I'm not sure I agree with this particular rescue's method. |
Oh. OK. Nevermind then. :p anyway, I really hope that this dog gets the help she needs. |
