Anyone bike? I'd love to get a bike but I have no idea where to start. They all look the same to me. What's the difference between a $100 bike and $500 bike? I live in the city so I'll mostly be used it on paved surfaces. I'd love a simple bike like this (Walmart.com: 26" Men's Huffy Cranbrook Cruiser Bike, Champagne: Bikes, Scooters & Skates). This particular one gets 4 stars but kind of bad ratings. |
400 hundred bucks. :D |

I like the style of beach cruisers....I do not like how difficult they are to pedal. My bike is a beach cruiser style...with hand brakes and gears. Cost a around 150 bucks. I'm not doing tour de franc...it's fine. Some of the higher priced bikes...it's simply the matter of weight. Someone using a bike for racing wants ultra lightweight frames. |

I think so...although admitting that makes me sound my age. It's the larger fatter tires and no gears. The style I do like...I don't wanna lean over to reach handle bars any more. |
I bike. Kinda. When the weather is nice and I'm in the mood. lol. :p Anyhow, yes... that one only has one speed...so you'll really have to work at pedaling. Get one with some more gears (speeds) on it. At least 3 minimum? maybe. Mine is a 21 speed mountain bike, and I haven't figured out all the gears... I did figure out " put it in a little gear on front, and bigger one on back" makes it easy to go up hills. LOL... (I had to look at the internet for that info). So, as you can see, too many gears can be a drawback as well!' Those "Hybrid bikes" look cool, they're kinda a combo Mountain bike/Street bike. If you really want to make sure, go to a store that specializes in bikes, they will have cheap to expensive bikes and you can talk to the sales rep about what you want the bike for and get whats perfect for you. My brother bikes but he is a triathlete and his bike was $6,000!! I think the whole bike (even with the tires) weighs 12lbs! I am sure you don't need that kind though! :) |
I have an Electra Townie. Pink. It's a BB & I love it. I can sit up straight when I ride because the crank is forward of the seat. Flat foot technology is great. It was $400 when I bought it 3 yrs ago. It's a 3spd with a front brake and a coaster brake. I'm quite the style with my wicker basket & Sunnie headed for the beach. |
