Cleaning with paper towels?! Need advice. We just bought our home about 6-7 months ago and I'm having some cleaning problems. We have shiny black counters, a shiny black glass top stove, black dishwasher, and a black fridge. I have tried many types of cloth including microfiber but they always leave things streaky/hazy. (I use Windex as the cleaner.) The only thing that gets it all shiny is paper towels....BUT Ive bought several kinds and they always leave these white fuzzy things behind. Like white dust. It's driving me crazy. Ok, my question: What brand of paper towel have you used that doesn't leave white fuzzies? Or what kind of cloth leaves a good clean shine? |
Use newsprint paper. You can usually get roll ends from the local newspaper and it works fantastic, leaves no streaks..... If you can't find that, then use the cheapest roughest paper towels you can find..... they don't have the fibers that leave the little white fuzzies :) |
Have you tried Brawny! My DH says to try a microfiber cloth. We got ours at Walmart! Hopefully one of these will help! |
I like Brawny also :) I have that black glass top on my stove too. |

Thanks for the tips :) |
The auto or shop towels don't have lint. I don't like the feel of them, but they will probably work for what you need. We have a ginourmous roll of them in the garage and i have no idea where they came from, maybe Lowes? Also those brown paper towels they put in public bathrooms work well too - we had those at the school I worked at and they smelled funny (like brown paper bags) but they did work. HTH! |
Try Newspaper. That works well and does not leave fibers behind. |
See if you can find a diaper service that sells their worn out diapers. Sounds kinda gross I know, buit they've been washed so many times that they have no fibers left to get on your appliances. My in-laws used to own a janitorial supply house and this is what they sold to all the professional cleaners. Michele :-) |
Be careful using cheap rough paper towels, they might not have lint, but can scratch the glass/surfaces and then you'll have a bigger problem:( Bounty does make a paper towel especially for glass, they have blue dots in all the squares. |
I also use the cheaper paper towels or Brawney. Some of the cheaper ones we get are pretty thin and not as rough. Usually the store brand ones are like that. Flour sak towels work well too. Not linty and won't scratch. I don't care for using newpaper due to getting ink all over my hands but I know it does work. |
I only use Bounty and I use this Spray Away it leaves NO streaks and you can actually use the same paper towel when cleaning one thing instead of getting a new one cause of streaks. Only King Kullen supermarket carries it, I don't know if you have one near where you live , if not here is the site Good Luck:D Sprayway Glass Cleaner removes stubborn films on interior glass! |
i just bought shamwow, and it cleans pretty well. (i also have black counter tops) |
