Papillions? Anyone ever had a Papillion dog? Just wondering what you think of the breed! |
I have a friend that have a papillon they are just wonderful:p |
I don't have one, but before we moved I used to baby sit one. He was the sweetest little guy! He was really high energy, but all he wanted was love! They are great little dogs. :) |
My ex-mother in law has had several. They are the sweetest little dogs and very loyal. |
Wildcard has gorgeous Papillons - she'd be a wealth of good info. :) |
We have a papillon, Scout and honestly he has the best temperament and is extremely smart. He's always happy, loving, playful, energetic, but yet ready to calm down and just be petted. He's not a barker, gets along great with our other dogs, even all of the foster dogs that have been through here.....And....here is the best part..........:D he was much easier to house-train than either of my yorkies. LOL.....now, if Scout only looked like yorkie - he would be the perfect dog! Just joking, actually I love his butterfly ears and cute little face mask, and at 7lbs, he is the perfect size - not too big, or so small that I'm constantly worried about him, like I am my 3.5 lb girl. |
I like them very much. If I weren't hooked on yorkies, Pappillons would be my next choice. |
I love them! I've never actually seen one in person, but I think they are soo cute! :D Quote:
Papillion is actually "Butterfly" in French. :) |

Aw thanks for all the info! I was just curious for future reference because I had HEARD all these things about them but didn't know how true they were! Seems to be pretty true! That they're very easy to train and not big barkers. I'm not looking to add another dog to my "pack" quite yet and I LOVE my yorkie Jackson but I'm the kind of person that likes variety, I like to "try out" a bunch of breeds lol! I think papillion would be my 2nd choice! |
I have a 7 1/2 y.o. Puppy Mill Rescue Papillion, named Sammy and Baron is my 17 m.o. Yorkie. Sammy is a Teapot boy @ 15 lbs. He is very much a couch potato and has been for the 7 years that we've had him. He's never been hyper or high energy. Even though I hear the breed is. He doesn't play with any toys. Probably from being used as a breeder and not having any. He enjoys chewing on bones, runnung through the house and growling @ Baron in a playful way. I watch him around children and he doesn't like shoes. He's attacked more than 1 jogger already, well, just their shoes... I think Papillions are a beautiful breed. Especially the long hair flowing from his ears. Sammy is a good dog and was the one to let my Hubs know in March when I had 2 Heart Attacks @ home. He was downstairs with me when the first one happened. If it weren't for Sammy, I wouldn't be here typing this right now! |
