Grrr! Bad business people bother me! Grr, I'm just really upset right now. At the end of March my sewing machine broke, nothing too major but enough that I felt I needed it fixed before I used it any more. (The feeders/feet that are under the needle that helps guide the material through, that can adjust depending on the thickness of the material broke. They stuck all the way down and won't go up all the way, so essentially the feeders WON'T guide my material at all and that's looking for trouble!) There's only 1 licensed place (that I could find) in town for the kind of machine I have. I called, described the problem, and the owner said it sounded minor and could even probably be fixed while I waited. I thought, this sounds great! I get there, a whole different story! He says, I can't fix it (he's not trained yet, which means he ISN'T licensed!). He says they'll give it to a guy who will fix it and he should be able to get to it in a week. Since that seemed like the only option I left it there. A week passes, don't hear from them. I call, and they say the guy is swamped (apparently every other shop in town sends their repairs to him too) and they hope it'll be ready in a week or two. The best they can offer me is to work on a machine of theirs in the mean time. :( Two weeks in I take them up on their offer. I was there for an hour or two, but I got almost nothing done. :( I spent the entire time trying to figure out how the machine worked. In the end I was too worried of messing anything up (their machine and what I was working on) so I left. Three weeks after they've had it I finally call seeing if it's ready or what the status is. As if it's been ready for a while they're like "oh it's ready you can pick it up!" I got to get it, pissed, and fearing what the price will be. Half the issue was that I just wanted an estimate before anything was done (so if it cost more than I could afford I wouldn't get screwed). It was $130 or so. I paid and went home. I've had it for 2 or 3 weeks now. School (finals and such) was just too much and I didn't have time to sew. Today was the first day since getting it back that I had time and was actually interested in sewing. I get everything set up, lay out everything I'm going to work on and sit down to start. I see the feet are all the way up. Thinking this is the true test, I put them down and then back up ... they don't come back up! I'd paid for that to be fixed and for it to be cleaned. As far as I can tell it wasn't fixed and it wasn't cleaned! (I knew I should have tried it out as soon as I got it, that's something I'd normally be neurotic about doing. I'd go to do it and forget and just think "well they had it for 3 weeks of course it works now".) They said if I bring it in the guy should be in tonight and he can "recheck it". And I can use one of their machines while he's got it. I don't foresee this turning out well. Worst of all for the first time I actually got commissioned to make something and I actually have to sew it by a deadline! I'm just so mad. I'm going to drop it off today but I felt I needed a little bit of time to cool off before heading over there. These people are so ... they didn't give me a receipt when I dropped it off the first time, didn't do anything I'd asked them to do or what they said they'd do, and they're just so laid back and unaffected by any of this! Sorry I just really needed to vent. :( |
Is ok let it out sista;) I do hope you get your machine soon :animal-pa |

Oh gosh... well at least it's working. I just had mine in for service and I had to pay because Brother doesn't have my local technician in their system yet. They are a certified dealer and their techs are top notch but they are newer and they aren't in the official system yet, so Brother wouldn't reimburse them for my problem. My machine was mis-aligned and not feeding properly. Actually, it had been like that right out of box but I didn't know any better since it was my first really good machine. My needle threader broke last week :thumbdown and I have to wait for Brother to get around to updating their system before I can take it in... <sigh> I'll just be thankful that I have a great place to take it to :) |
