Patti | 04-20-2009 02:45 PM | How do they do it??? I volunteer at a huge no kill animal shelter in the area and when I take these precious babies out and look in their eyes I just don't know how people can turn them in. I know there are some where no other options are available, but so many are turned in because they don't have time, a new baby or they claim they bite (just to get rid of them). Every time I go there there are new ones and ones that have found homes. So it is bittersweet walking into the small dog room each time. I really respect the people who work there as it is all about the animals and the wonderful people who foster and adopt. I just love to hold them and let them snuggle. Many when they first come in are so scared and as the days go by and the staff and volunteers attend to them most of them settle in and get excited to see you. I wish something could be done to end the need for places like this!. I just wanted to let anyone know who was thinking of volunteering but was afraid like I was for so long that it is so worth the heartache to make a difference, if even for a short time,in their day. They do appreciate it. Thanks |
