I hope you feel better. You are going to need a lot of pain medicine. I got my finger slammed in a car door, and it hurt like crazy. The blood was trapped inside my nail that created a lot of pressure, which made my finger hurt. It hurt so bad that I could not sleep. The doctor had to drill a hole in my nail to make the blood drain. They gave me morphine to relieve the pain. I never thought my finger could feel excruciating pain from being slammed in a car door. What type of dog bit you? I hope it was not a Shih Tzu. I love that breed (look at my signature). I could not decipher the symbols LOL. Some Shih Tzus do bite when they get peeved or surprised. Shih Tzus are very good dogs when the owner is the leader of the pack. They love to be spoiled and pampered. My Shih Tzu has a laidback personality and obedient. Good Luck! |

How do u study or learn to be a professional grommer do u need to go to school for this? I would love to groom dog's |
Oh how awful for you! I hope it heals quickly! I too hope it wasn't a shih tzu (thats what breed my Norman is). I just can't imagine my Norman ever biting someone like that. He is such a good boy who loves everyone. |
ohhhohhhhh...I think it WAS..... Hide Norman...she's aiming at your relatives!!!! OP...Sorry about your thumb! I hope you feel better soon. |
I am so very sorry that you were bitten. I really feel your pain :( My husband is a certified farrier and for a while he was doing some specialized shoe/trimming work. What really annoyed me most was that people didn't TRAIN their horses to behave with the farrier. :( Like duh  I am sure that you experience this a lot. People bring their unmanageable dogs to the groomer to have nails clipped and ears trimmed and to have a general grooming done -- and they haven't put forth the effort to train the dog to behave properly and accept grooming. I know that there are exceptions - some dogs just are very difficult to work with, but geez, louise, they should at least warn you :) I hope you charged them extra :D |

I don't understand dog (or any animal) owners do this. It doesn't take any special training sessions. It doesn't take any extra time. I do all of those things during our normal play/daily grooming sessions. |
Sorry. Guess you should groom my shih tzu, she's never bitten anyone before. Maybe someone has hurt this shih tzu before |
oh man, i'm sorry. i understand your frustration. I'm currently attending grooming school and am surprised at how bad shih tzus are for grooming. it really does make you want to call them the other name. When working as a vet tech shih tzu's never gave me a problem but now that i'm grooming i'm seeing a whole other side. i was shocked at first and asked my instructors about it. she said a lot of shih tzus are like this. i've groomed a few so far that are sweet as can be on the floor but as soon as you put them on the table to groom they try to bite. |

I'm sorry you got hurt!! The groomers love my babies, but I do worry that if they got their hair tugged the wrong way, ect they might try to go nip -- as sometimes when I've been brushing if I pull too hard I do get a warning snip at the air -- not a bite though <3. I think it would be very tough to be a groomer just because I think like people, dogs can have a bad day. So a dog that's usually so great might snap if they're in pain or scared or uncomfortable. I definitely give major respect to groomers for the hard job they do! |

Ouch! I've had to use muzzles on quite a few cuz they don't like getting their nails cut. They try to bite the nail clipper, & if my hand is in the wrong position, they'll bite me. So far...knock on wood, I've not been bitten. When dogs are sooo matted, it really annoys me...what are these owners thinking? Seriously, some look like puppy mill dogs. It's awful. Your thumb probably feels like it's throbbing...I feel pain for you. Take some pain killers (advil:D) & make sure it doesn't get infected. |
