Just wondering .... My fiance's friend is getting married this summer and asked him to be one of the grooms men. I'm not sure how a formal wedding goes. But just wondering if any of you ladies find that it will be weird to sit through a wedding and not have your hubby/fiance by you? Plus you don't really know anyone there. And this is a chinese/american wedding. So usually the grooms men and bridesmaid usually stay up with the bride and groom and greet everyone as they enter. |
anyone ?:confused: It's really bothering me and i need other povs .... self reasoning isn't working. |
I had to attend my husband's best friends wedding alone. He was best man, and I was just a guest. It sucked, frankly. I didn't know anyone else there and ended up drinking too much:laugh: They got divorced 6 months later:rolleyes: |
It sounds like you'll have to be alone. :( But, sometimes for the reception, the bridesmaids and groomsmen get to have their dates/spouses sit up at the table with them. It is just bride and grooms choice... |
I think you will be fine. You might not know anyone, but usually the only time that the bestman and grooms man have to be up at the head table is for dinner and speeches, other than that your fiance should be able to come down and sit with you and talk and dance. |
hi im sure u will be fine.. ive been bridesmaid to all my sister inlaws which has meant alot of the time my hubby had to mingle..himself.. but u will both be in the same place and i am sure if ure hubby knows how nervous and worried u are about this, he can slip away from the bride and groom to be with u, sumtimes the spouses are invited to sit at the top table 2, goodluck, and dont worry 2 much, lifes all about meeting new people, this is the perfect oppertunity 4 u, |
Hopefully the spouses will be at the head table and you won't be alone. If you aren't then the seating is the responsibility of the host and they should make sure you are assigned a table with people who you have something in common with and can enjoy yourself. During the reception line you can just find your seat and order a drink if you aren't comfortable mingling. Since your hubby is a groomsman you should be on the bride's and groom's families' radar and they, knowing you will be alone at some points and don't know anyone, should make sure you feel comfortable. It is your responsibility to be friendly and upbeat and it is the host's responsibility to, as much as they can, make sure their guests are comfortable and enjoying themselves. Your husband might even know people he can introduce you to who you would like hanging out with. Hope you have fun. Just wear a fabulous dress so if you aren't having fun, at least you'll know you look gorgeous.:D |
Lol .... Thanks for all the responses everyone! I enjoyed reading them all. It's great to finally get an idea of how the wedding might be. I come from a very un traditional family, and i often don't have anyone to go to for advice especially when it comes to these things.:thumbup::thumbup: |
