Would I be a helicopter parent if... I'm wondering if this would boarder on being a helicopter parent. Here's the scenario: Two 20-somethings I know who have a business are looking for 2 summer interns. I know these people on a professional level, they do not know I have a 19-yr old daughter. (I often am told I don't look old enough, so most people are surprised to learn I have a college aged daughter) I told my dd about the internship & she is planning to apply. Part of me wants to tell these 2 people that my dd is going to apply - so they will watch for her app. But I don't want them to think I'm some crazy mom  -- I do know another guy (who graduated college a yr ago) told these 2 business people the names of 3 people he reffered to their applications. So is it ok - for that 20-something guy to do that, but it wouldn't be ok for me as a mom? |
I say GO FOR IT!!! because why not? what could it hurt? good luck!!! :D |
I agree, tell them about your daughter. It would not be like you are asking them to hire her - simply tell them your daughter will be applying for the positions. I have learned in my professional career that networking is so important, you would be helping your daughter learn this lesson at an early age. Good luck to her. |
I agree, I would mention it. What if you had a friend and her daughter applied, would you mention her to help out the friend? Bet you would, so why not do the same for your daughter.:) |
