Horrible feeling at work I need to vent and I hope I could do it here. I dont want to cry here at work but I hate it when there is that certain work bully that constantly gets at it with lots of my other coworker and today it was me. Today a lot of people took off so there are only a few of us left. She is the appointed team leader and giving out extra work from othe employees. I said ok I'll do it but I just want to tell you I could only do what I could and she started saying your not the only one who has work we all do. I told her I know that but im just saying I'll do what I can. Then she looked at me in a mean way and said Im telling you. Its the way she approched me in a rude manner. Knowing your the supposedly team leader why couldnt you just decent in the way she approches people. I dont want to cry you guys but I cant stop. |
Bullies of any sort are nothing but insecure little children in grown bodies. Keep that at the forefront of your mind. Aren't you glad that you are secure enough in yourself that you don't have to go around and bully people to get what you want? You ARE the better person and I believe you know that. There is one thing I continue to try and tell myself when faced with these types of issues. That being: You cannot control the actions of others. The only thing you have control over is your "response". So phewy on her and get on with your day. You've got all us fun, Yorkie loving folks to keep you cheered up! :p |

Just ignore her and keep with your day, do what you can, and think of the weekend ahead. I'm sure there is a supervisor, you, or maybe, all your co workers can talk to regarding this person, if this behavior continues . |

Next time you take the work, just take it and say nothing. On the way out the door for the day give it back to her and say something like "I did what I could do between the rest of my work." and leave. :) Sweetie, don't cry. I know how hard it is to hold it in... but its emotional and unprofessional at work. Keep it together until you can take a break. (((HUGS))) |
Thank you very much for everybody's responses. You guys made me feel better and smile. My other coworkers who heard what happen came up to me and said its the way she talks to people and deal with them is the number 1 reason people here at work dislikes her. I need to learn to be a little tough and not cry especially with her. Thanks again guys big hugs. |

I remember once in college there was this professer that EVERYONEEEEEEEEEEE was afraid of...she failed alot of nursing students. But for some reason this woman LOVED me. Why? Cause the first time she said something smartypants to me....i fired it back to her. I honestly think it made her respect me. Now when people "try" to bully me at work. I say "Listen, i'm an adult . I'll give you a few minutes alone to collect your thoughts and then we can discuss this later when you can speak to me like an adult." ...and then i walk away. Noone deserves to be harassed at work. |
Well if she thinks those of you there can do all of your work PLUS finish ALL of the work of the people who are out....WHY do they need those people anyway!?! |
Ask her.. If she knows what "HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT" means. Then if she doesn't tell her to google it..... If you report this to her Supervisor, and the Supervisor does nothing to stop this, then both of them are liable and could be held responsible....ie....legal trouble.... The government is pretty strict on this type of behavior....people who are harrassed could "break" at some point, and flip out.....so employers are very serious about this. |
Karma always comes around. A friend of mine was working for an organization that also had team leaders and also 2nd level team leaders. My friends was a 2nd team leader. She had a terrific relationship with her group-----bringing treats for holidays, decorating their area and doing fun things. Her team leader hated her, so when lay-offs came she was the very first to go despite her excellent record. Months later she found another job where they offered her a management level job. Just after they had hired her, the hiring department came to her and asked about a certain applicant...yes, it was her former boss who had eventually also been laid off. My friend was honest about the person's nasty attitude towards all those under her. She actually didn't get the job. So you see, there is 'come-up.' Get your 4 hr.s done and disappear, never to see the nasty person again. Chin-up, my dear. There's light at the end of the tunnel. ~Joanne~ |
