Sometimes "sorry" doesn't cut it I kept my 2 yr old "nephew" last night. After repeatedly doing something I asked him not to do, he had to go to time out. Time out = him sitting in a chair repeating "I sowwy. I sowwy, Ad-ee-ka. I sowwy." over and over again. Finally my 5 yr old said, "P, sometimes sorry doesn't cut it around here!" I thought it was funny so figured I'd share. ;) |
LOL! Sounds like your 5 year old was tired of the whailing too! Yep, sorry only cuts it with me when it's truly meant...not when it's the quickest way out of time out! |
hahahaha goes to show how much they really do know!!! |
LOL... that's too cute and totally true... you're 5 y.o is wise. ;) |

Thank you for the smile and a HUGE double thank you for being a responsible parent and sticking to the "time out". Way too many children learn that NO is just another word that means nothing. |
I have to admit, with my oldest (who will be 15 in Aug) I caved quite a few times. That little "I sowwy" is very hard to resist. By the time the second kidlet arrived (he'll be 13 this year! ) I was almost immune and only caved once or twice. Now with the 3rd one (who will turn 6 next month) it doesn't even phase me anymore. I am finally immune! |

 Totally agree! |
I miss those stages... I loved the 2's... now the 3's... not so much! |
LOL.....now that is too funny! |
My oldest two never had the "terribles". My youngest is making up for it with her "terrible 5's". I called my mother in tears one day telling her I wasn't sure exactly when I mated with Satan, but I was absolutely convinced this child was his spawn. Sounds horrible to say, but I really went through some VERY trying times with that child. Thankfully she is starting to calm back down now. My little nephew, on the other hand, is most definitely in the "terrible two's" and to make it all worse, he has a new baby sister that he is super J E A L O U S of. |
Thats so sweet. Im glad you did stick to your guns. I put my 24 year old in the corner when she was 5 and do you know what she did. She started singing happy birthday to mommy. What a manipulator and still is.. |
i am so so glad you stuck to the punishment....and it is just that.....around our house it was not allowed to say you were sorry till the time out was over....and then you could only say you were sorry if you understood why.....my youngest ...now 18 .....was in time out once while i was cooking supper.....and i forgot about her.......my oldest ...now 20.......came to me and says....hey mommy......i fink you fordot about siser....and i said what?.....she motioned for me to come with her...and says...wook....her feld a sweep........there she was in the corner ....with her nose still touching ....asleep with her thumb in her mouth.......lol.........i felt so so guilty..........that we went to walmart and bought a timer....lol........funny thing is .......they were actually pretty good.......i only remember using the timer for time out....ONCE!!!!................thanks for the smile....it brought back precious memories............my oldest is gonna make me a grandma around Thanksgiving! |
