The prayers worked ty ty ty I just had to call Boston Children's Hospital tonight as Christian has an awful nasty infection in/around his stoma. Made me nauseus when I had to change his feeding tube tonight The on call doctor pulled him up on the computer. The results had just come in. ALL HIS BIOPSIES CAME BACK NORMAL!!!! NO CANCER!!! Now I don't know what they will do about all the nodules BUT IT'S NOT CANCER I can't begin to tell you the relief. This is the second best day of my life!! ps. 2 antibiotics for the infection. Great news....I'm sure you are so relieved. Hope you don't mind but I'm going to PM you a website that might be of interest to you, if you don't already know about it. |
YEAH!!!!! We LOVE great news!!!! |
Did they give you any Nystatin powder for around the stoma? Does he have a Mickey button? Most of the time infections around a stoma is due to a tiny bit of leakage from the mickey button resulting in a yeast infection. Glad to see its not cancer. All my well wishes to your son and your entire family. :) |

Yes, he has a Mic-key button. He's had it for 8 years now and is fed 24/7 via a pump. After the endoscopy on Monday his doctor put in a long tube with a secure lock disk as they are less likely to have the balloon break. That has been a major issue in the past. I went to put him to bed and saw he had quite a bit of drainage under the dome. I decided to change to the regular button. When I pulled the long tube out....GROSS. Let's just say the infection was obviously being held in by the disk. It's more the stoma than the external tissue. He's on clindamycin orally and bactroban externally. I'm exhausted this morning! I was so excited I had a hard time sleeping last night!! :) |
