Ebay/Paypal???? Can someone answer this?
 
Hey guys, so I sold a carrier yesterday on Ebay and was notified of instant payment through Paypal. Now, I always use Paypal but have never seen this before. I went to my Paypal account and it shows a payment from the buyer, but under the status it says "On hold- Ship now." Is this a new thing? Does this mean I will not get my funds until the buyer gets their item? How do they know if the buyer gets it? I really don't feel comfortable sending something when I have not technically been paid for it.

Does anyone know anything about this? How do you feel about it? Have you dealt with this before? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!

If you click on the details button on paypal...it should tell you why its on hold. Sometimes they hold it when a buyer uses an "E-check" or an ebay gift certificate...which means the funds are coming..it just has to clear. If i were you I would just email the buyer and tell them that the funds are on a hold ..and when they clear you will send out the product immediately. Hope this helped some. :)

Once your buyer leaves feedback upon receipt...paypal will release the funds. If the buyer does not leave feedback...the payment is held for 21 days.

You should ship all your items with delivery confirmation. It's your proof the item was received and actually required in the paypal user agreement.

Personally I liked receiving my money immediately but I understand the change. People would get ripped off and there wasn't a balance in the paypal account to retrieve funds in a dispute. Paypal could side in your favor but that didn't necessarily mean you would receive a full refund from them. It's limited to the balance of the account.

So I have to wait 21 days for my money if she doesn't leave feedback? I don't think so.... I understand the change but I *really* have a problem sending something out without a payment. I always ship with delivery confirmation and have 100% feedback. The problem is people don't always leave feedback and I am not willing to go through this dispute process, to much hassle and not worth the $100!

I guess I have no other choice though huh?

Apparently this is a new thing and it won't clear for 21 days unless the buyer leaves positive feedback. WTH. This is what it says when I click "Details"

"To get the funds sooner, please ship right away. We'll release the hold after 21 days unless you receive a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal on the transaction."

I guess I'm not selling on Ebay anymore.

Laughing...well you can not think so, but you're right..you have no say so in the matter. Especially given the fact paypal is now the only payment method eBay allows.

Thanks Deb (I was so mad I forgot to thank you in the previous post :p sorry!!).

And I do have a say in the matter- I won't be selling on Ebay or using Paypal in the future. SO THERE. Huh. (That was to Paypal not you!! :D)

No problem...personally I think it sucks too. I used to love having an entire transaction over within 3 days.
