I haven't read the books or seen the movie but my 14 year old niece is OBSESSED with it. She has read the book series at least 4 times, seen the movie at least as many and was going at midnight to buy the dvd. |
My daughter and a few friends stood in line at Walmart last night. (They are college age) She has read all the books and seen the movie 4 times! Her and her room mates used it as therapy away from homework!:D I myself have not seen it or read the books. |
I've read the books and just now watched the movie for the first time. I've gotta say that I probably wouldn't have read the books if I had seen the movie first. The movie was NOWHERE near as good as the book. They left SO much out but then there's probably no way they could have fit it all in.... the movie would have had to be 6 hours long to do that. But now I can finally say I saw the movie. Oh, and NO WAY is Edward as good looking in the movie as what I envisioned in the book. ;) |
Did everyone get their movie? I went to the store about 30 minutes before opening and there was already a line-up of at least 50 people. After I got into the line about another 100 people showed up as well. All just for the Twilight DVDs. It was just a little cold -11 C (12.2 F) standing outside waiting but worth it as I was able to get the limited addition copies I wanted. But just missed getting the free poster the first 30 people got, I was 31st, lol. Oh well, was happy to be one of the lucky ones today, almost all the Twilight DVDs were gone in less than 10 mins and they had a ton. |
I just picked mine up this afternoon at walmart. They had plenty of copies left. |
I have read all the books, 2 times and I have heard from many friends who saw the movie in theatre that is was not nearly as good as the book, so i'm just going to rent it tonight on tv..:) |
Me, my daughter, and her friend got the movie and watched it last night. The kids liked the movie but I was a little disappointed. The didn't come close to showing the obsession and devotion that edward has with bella. I know that its easier to write in detail about things like that but, I would have liked a little more of the connection between the two. |
I just finished the movie. I actually quite enjoyed it. It's always fun seeing a book on screen and comparing things to the way you imagined it. My husband and son watched it with me too. My husband hasn't read the book, but he said he liked the movie. On the other hand, the movie maybe felt a little empty to me. My emotions weren't there like they were when I was reading the book. Something is missing, and I really can't put my finger on it right now. Maybe it was just too rushed or something. I'm not sure. |

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with those who said the acting in the movie sucked. I hadn't read the books yet and went to see the movie with my little brother and Mom. I didn't think I'd like the movie, I figured it'd be one of those that you just can't wait for it to be over. Instead, I was wishing it would never end. It's one of those movies that just make me want to jump through the screen and be in it. So dreamy, so romantic, I NEVER EVER wanted it to end. I'm not really fond of non-Twilight Edward but Twilight Edward is sooo ahhh! I just know I'm glad I don't have a DVD player in my bedroom because I would never get out of bed. :) |
Maybe the acting didn't actually "suck" but the difference between what happens in the book and what happens on screen is so totally different that it makes the acting seem "lifeless". The book was so deep and emotional that it would take some much more experienced actors maybe to be able to carry that to the screen. I agree with the other poster that it was somewhat empty. I enjoyed watching the movie mostly because of Bella. I've been told since the movie first came out at the theatre that the Bella character is my oldest daughter all over again. My daughter hasn't even read the books so she's not all into the Twilight thing so when kids at school started telling her that, she didn't know what they meant. She does look a lot like her but the mannerisms and everything are so dead on that it's a little weird watching it. |
How funny. :) I saw the movie in the theater by myself, cause my boyfriend had already seen it and knew I would be smiling the entire movie. (Which I was :eek:) He brought the movie home yesterday and we watch some of it last night and then restarted tonight with my roommate. I love movies with vampires. :) Robert may look okay in real life but he is hot as vampire. :rolleyes: |
I thought the book's were way better than the movie.Me and my daughter went and seen it at the movies on opening day.I am so hoping that the next movie is so much better not that i did not enjoy the first because i did,lol.. |
I think the acting was HORRIBLE , I loved the movie but I think it was poorly done, I personally think for at least the first 5 minutes they should have set the sceen for the movie, maybe start a short briefing of when Edward Had malerai and show him getting bit, ( could have made it suspensful and not shown by who, then shown bellas life when she was little and her mom walking out, and why Bella had no relationship with her dad, just a quick briefing... then started the movie.... I think the acting was terrible, it could have been done wayyyyyyy better. JMO |
I was most disappointed in Edward's sparkle in the movie. He was much sparklier in my head when I read the books. In the movie it just looked like he had a little glitter on him. |
I actually just watched the movie last night. I thought it could have been sooo much better. I like the premise of the movie , but it was just lacking in so many areas. It told to much about nothing and not enough about what you really needed or wanted to know. It could have been great , but IMO it came out mediocore at best. I really hope the follow up movies are done in a different directing style... the story needs to be told not skimmed over . I wanted to know more about where Edward came from. I wanted to know about the other vampires and I want to feel that Bella really liked Edward not just see her looking indifferent and bored by him. So many great characters and opprotunities but we were left hanging and I just felt like you didn't learn anything about anyone. I mean Edward is nice to look at but if he becomes nothing more than a face to keep your attention off the bad movie your watching , it would be a real shame. |
I thought the way Edward & Bella acted towards each other was awesome. I know there were several times through the movie, they had my heart pumping faster. I've just never been one to overly critique a movie like most do, I guess that's why I liked it. |
Most of the actors are fairly new... that is probably why it was not the greatest acting. Honestly I didn't notice the acting being 'bad' at all. I was not a HUGE fan of the movie, however I was glad (in this case) I read the book first. I think the movie helped me put more pictures in my head to keep pace with the book, but I think they were hand in hand and the movie does not stand too well on its own. I do have to say the further into the series I read the more bored with it I became. The fourth book took me a month to read. It was probably the best one but by that point I was sick of the whole 'we love each other sooooooo much' story. ah well... Im glad I saw it and read it, but Im not buying it. |

as of Saturday I have become a Twilight fan!! My friend went on and on about the movie when it first came out. It was not the type of movie I thought I would like-not into vampires or anything like that. Well she came Saturday with the movie and the hubs and I both really liked it-I was shocked! haha I went to Walmart bought 2 of the books and am getting ready to start them. I am really excited about them because books are almost always better than the movie! oh, and I also bought the movie to watch again after I read the book! :D |

Now that I saw the movie again after actually reading the books the movie didn't seem all that great. Don't get me wrong I still love the movie but I think it was missing what Edward and Bella were all about. They were so much in love in the book and I didn't really get that from the movie. And I think Robert Pattinson is hot as a vampire but I don't see him as Edward. But like I said I still love the movie and I hope the next one will be better. |
I have to say that I'm "addicted". I had never heard of the books and didn't pay much attention when the movie came out. Then it happened, since I'm a big reader, my friend said she had a series for me to read. I started reading, then couldn't stop. I read all the books within a couple weeks. She then took me to see the movie about a month or so ago(we weren't even sure it would still be playing). I liked it, but was a little disappointed at the same time. I think, that I had imagined it a certain way, and it wasn't. I thought I read somewhere that they were limited in someways, because of budget. They shouldn't have that problem with the next one - which, I can hardly wait to see. |
I'm definitely a TWILIGHT addict! I have the entire book series and picked up the DVD on the release date. :D |
If you haven't yet, read the Charlaine Harris books (Sookie series) and the Hamilton books (Anita Blake series). Lots of romance and vampires. :) |

I have been sick with the flu and my hubby went and rented me a bunch of movies Twilight being one of them. I didn't have much interest in seeing it so I watched it last. I loved it so much that I watched it two times in a row. It was like I couldn't get enough! (My own personal heroin!:D) I think I am addicted now and from what everyone is saying about the books I am going to have to read it now! |
