Calling all Math Whizzes, please Can somebody answer this for me? Find the smallest number that meets all of these conditions: *when you divide the number by 5 there are 3 left over *when you divide the number by 8 there are 2 left over *when you divide the number by 9 there are 4 left over Thank you in advance--hope someone can help! |
The answer is 58 :) |
Thank you! |
I really need to think outside the box. All I could think of was 18, but that didn't make any sense with the last one. |
Why'd you need to know that? Are you doing someone's homework on here? :p |
lol-well I am no good with numbers. We were on our way home last night and my son was doing his math hw. He gave us that problem (I should say my husband) and they were trying to work it out together. In other words, my hubby didn't want to just give him the answer. There was a lot of commotion in the van as we had my niece with us and so they gave up and dh said wait till we get home. Well, I wanted to "beat" them. lol So I immediately posted when I got home knowing that *somebody* here would quickly give me the answer! lol They were impressed with my "knowledge"............NOT! ;) |
you are too funny!! |
Thats a tough one. What grade is he in? My son is in first grade. Luckily, they are adding and telling time. I can do that, lol. I better start brushing up on my math skills!!! |
He's in 6th grade. I just never got along to well with numbers unless they are printed on a pretty piece of green paper! ;) |
