Terrible 2's battle of the wills.
 

I went through the same thing with every child, always a similar scenerio. Now it's Kiana's turn. Right now I am trying to keep myself distracted while she temper tantrums because I won't pick her up till she says sorry. She always says sorry after she was naughty, and today she decided she is going to shout NO at me when I ask her if she is going to say sorry. She threw her cup of grapes and her bowl of cottage cheese because she wanted her sister's. Typical toddler stuff. So I cleaned it up and told her to say sorry, and she yelled no at me, and proceeded to put her arms up and cry so I would hold her and coddle her. I told her she had to say sorry first, and she shouted no. So she then started screaming at the top of her lungs (ugh my boys never did the screaming thing like the girls) and figured I would pick her up. So she is still mad at me right now, but she needs to know that I won't cave.
I will never forget my 3rd son Morgan's terrible 2 meltdown. He was always thirsty, and always brought me his little cup and said "pleeeease". So he brought me his cup and yelled "MILK" at me. I told him to say please, and he shouted NO at me. I told him he must say please first, and he threw his temper tantrum for an hour on the floor, till he finally came up to me with his head down and said please. I have gone through this with all of my kids, and none of them talk back (ok my 6 year old daughter can be slightly sassy :rolleyes:) or are naughty kids. You can just see it in them when they are that age and testing you that at that point you have to stand your ground because if you don't now, it will only get worse, just watch Super Nanny, lol. I about die everytime I watch that show, and my kids cannot believe the way those children act!
It really seems like those girls are more stubborn than boys. I don't know who it was that told me girls were easier, but they were wrong!

My granddaughter is in the terrible two's also! My daughter does the same as you - she must say 'sorry' and 'please'.

One day she did something and she wouldn't say 'sorry' to her mom when requested. She wouldn't say no, she just didn't say anything at all.

Finally, she looked at her mom and said, "I can't say sorry"! :D

KIDS!!!! LOL!!!

It's so funny that even at that age they think they can outsmart us! LOL.

We are at peace now. She came in the kitchen, said "wowwy" which is sorry, and gave me a smooch. Then she walked down the hall to play with her sister and told me thank you twice on the way down there, funny girl.

The terrible two stage.. is only the warm up to what lies ahead..lol.. I have 4 kids.. 11 thru 5 and I would give any day to go back to those terrible two's :)

Yes we have 6, our oldest is going to be 11 next month. So far the terrible 2's have been worse than any other stage. It's like they are testing you in every area.
I am actually looking forward to the teen years with my boys (first 3 are boys), they are pretty fun kids.

I have 3 - ages 14, 12, and 5. My youngest is far worse than my older two ever thought about being.

She did not go through the terrible 2's, but I promise you she is more than making up for it with her terrible 5's! In fact, we just came home from school yesterday with her laying in the back seat of the car, kicking her feet and HOWLING at the top of her lungs because I told her she couldn't go to her Granny's house. :rolleyes:

Ah the good old days!! been there, done that, would not go back there for all the gold in the world, just wait for real adolecense (spelling?) like 13 to 18 to kick in - WOW now that's even tougher. Well today it's all behind me and now it's the kids turn to go through that, now they understand their Mom a bit more and I have a ball just sitting back and watching them. LOL:D

Okay now I'm worried. Amelia's 14months and these past few weeks she has been a nightmare. I tell her not to do something, she stares at me, waits till I'm not looking and does it anyway! I ask her not to climb things and she gets down and then when I look away she's climbed up anyway! I take things off her - she screams her butt off! I try to get her to do something and she aches her back and kicks and screams and then crys at the top of her lungs. Ugh. Now I see it's going to just get worse. :(

Don't get too worried! Like I said, I have had just one major battle of the wills/terrible 2's episode with each of my 6, and firmly standing my ground was all it took. The younger they are when you set firm boundries the better. Rebellion now is not a sign that they are going to be bad when they are older, it just means you have a better chance now to catch it before they get older and it's harder to get a handle on. Proverbs 22:18 says "Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him." Correct these behaviors now while they are young. It may be heartbreaking for you to see her upset, but it is better to see her get a little upset now than see her make terrible or tragic choices as a teen or adult because of lack of disapline.
Sometimes I think its harder with those cute little girls because they make being naughty look so sweet sometimes, lol.
