Sudden Intense Hip Pain...Help Ok, I'm not usually a whiner, but I got up out of my chair this afternoon, and I could hardly walk. I have a intense pain in my right hip and can hardly walk. I'm sitting in my recliner right now and it hurts so much to try and get up and walk it brings tears to my eyes. :( Anyone ever have anything like this? We are self employed and have the worlds crappiest insurance and really can't afford to run to the Dr. if it is something that may go away by itself. I'm not looking for anything other than some self help stuff at least till morning. I don't know if I should put ice on it or heat or what. Thanks, |
I would say take some advil and put ice on it. Does it feel like a nerve or a muscle pain? |
I'm no doctor but it sounds like you pinched a nerve or something, especially since you weren't really doing anything when it happened. Is it localized to your hip or is it shooting down the back of your leg? My thought would be that it will subside on its own, but if it's still around in a few days you should probably have it checked out. Have you taken advil or tylenol to try to dull the pain? I'm sorry I don't have any more advice...maybe someone on here is a physiotherapist and can give some better advice. So sorry to hear you're in pain. :( |
is it the joint??? If not sounds like it could be your appendix. |
sounds like siatica. Take anti inflammatory like alleve or something and hope it goes away fast. I have it from time to time and do stretches in the morning before I get out of bed to help it. good luck |
I would think Sciatica too. Hope you feel better soon. |
Almost certainly sciatica, I would say - I suffer myself. Anti-inflammatory meds should help, along with gentle exercise (don't overdo it - remember this is a trapped nerve). |
Thanks for the replies...I haven't been online much since this hip thing happened. It lasted 2 days then it went away. It was in the hip. Not going down my leg or anything else. It went away after I did a slight hip rotation, by accident, and it hurt like crazy, then the pain gradually went away. I figure I either had a pinched nerve or the hip was slightly out of socket and after I moved the right way...everything went back to normal. Thanks again!!! |
It might be bursitis. I had that once and it felt like I had broken my leg when I tried to walk on it. Why don't you google it and see if that fits the symptoms. There are a number of exercises you can do to strengthen the area and prevent further inflammation. |
It might help to get on your hands and knees and lift up on that leg a little or let it sort of hang in the socket there. It sounds weird, but when I was pregnant for my 5th, I suddenly had terrible pain down the front of my leg. It was so unbearable, and it was coming from my hip. I cried and cried, and even went to the ER. They said sciatica, but it was in the front of my leg  Anyway, they just wanted to push drugs on me, which I wouldn't take. I went home and basically just sat the way I mentioned above for a long time, it was my only way to get relief. |
Yes, this happens to me, and its all of a sudden. My doc told me it was my sciatic nerve. And now that I am pregnant, it happens more often. This is what I do as an exercise. Its what my obstetrician told me to do if I get sciatic or back pain. -Get on your hands and knees. -Touch your chin close to your chest -Lower your front body down like you are trying to put your chest on the floor. -hold the position for like a minute (i know, its awkward) It takes some pressure off the nerve, and repositions some of your organs i guess. Walking is good for sciatica but dont go during a spell. Wait for it to ease up. I hope you feel better soon. |
