Non-Traditional Wedding???
 

OMG I mean WEDDING!!!


Has anyone gotten or going to get married somewhere other than a church?? My 10 yr anniversary is coming up. My husband and I are talking about getting remarried. This time in a church. Last time, well, we got married in a cave. Yes, I said a cave. It is called Bridal Cave, in missouri. We were couple #1736 to do this. I posted a couple of pics. The first one I'm kinda stuffed in a huge bag, to keep my dress as clean as possible. It did get dirty though:D

How cool! We had a traditional wedding the first time, and now with our 25th anniversary coming up, we are considering a vow renewal. We're looking at a garden ceremony, but I'm still thinking about it. Maybe we'll do a less traditional one this time.

My son considered a wedding at a Texas Rangers' game (baseball) and I know someone who was married at a renaissance faire. IDK what we'll do, but it's interesting.

My husband and I got married on a hugh boat in the middle of Lake Union in Seattle. They anchored the boat while the Captain performed our marriage with the Space Needle in the background. After the ceremony we cruised around the lake for 3 hours dancing to a blues band on the upper deck and everyone had a wonderful time.

I got married in our living room with my yorkie Zorro as best man. My Mom's friend was a judge and he married us.

I have actually been to Bridal Cave in Missouri.....on our honeymoon 40 years ago. My daughter recently got married at a beautiful old B&B

We had a non-traditional wedding outdoors in our favorite state park. It was a beautiful day!

My DH and I also had a non-traditional wedding at the Amphitheatre in Hotel Villa Caletas, Costa Rica.

We had a traditional wedding except it was non-traditionally planned. My father was very sick and I was needed at home, so my husband offered to plan everything..........and he did. All I had to do was pick out my wedding dress, etc. He did everything else. He is a keeper!

I had a traditional wedding, but I just wanted to say how cool it is to have gotten married in a cave! How interesting!

My mom has worked in the hospital for 12 or 13 years and she said someone got married in the main hospital hallway in her white dress and everything because her dad was dying in the hospital and she wanted him to be there for it before he passed away. I thought it was sweet and just wanted to share.

OK...we were married in a church, but it was a tiny candlelit service and I wore a "little black dress" :eek:! Actually, I loved it....but I don't think I've ever met anyone else who has worn black on their wedding day! I just happen to like black...and I was older...only 5 yrs ago...See! I'm still trying to defend myself!!!:p

My wedding was in a church, but a Methodist one as the pastor would marry anyone (even those living in "sin") as he felt being under God's roof was important. The ceremony lasted about 20 minutes and then our reception was held in the backyard of the house we were living in.

For our 25th, we renewed our vows at the Catholic parish I belong to, during a Tuesday evening mass (that was our actually anniversary date). Since it wasn't a regular weekend mass and also not a Holy Day of any kind, I was able to select all three readings, our family friend who is a Deacon delivered the Gospel and homily and renewed our vows, my son did the 1st reading, daughter did the 2nd and my group provided all the music with all the songs I had selected and I actually sang with them before mass and then after communion I sang "You're Still the One". Our original wedding party was all in attendance as was our immediate family and a few close friends. We had a lovely meal afterwards at a local restaurant in a private room. I made the table settings, party favors and put together two hours worth of music on my Ipod for the dinner. It was wonderful!!!!!

I am pretty close to getting engaged....i think.... but I love seeing all the pictures! We need more!

I think I am going to elope and have a big bash when I get home!

Thanks! :D I happened to accidentally stumble upon the place when i was vacationing with some friends a couple of years ago. When I saw the place, I said "this is where I would like to get married" and a couple years later I did. We're actually planning to fly back next month for our 3 year anniversary. I can't believe how quickly time flies.

Did you sing "You're Still the One" solo? If so...WOW. I much prefer intimate gathering, so I'll probably do something with very close friends and immediate family once I hit the 25th mark...still got a long way to go. I gotta give it to folks that've been married this long. :)

i had a non-traditional wedding on the tee box of the 1st hole at my dads country club and we had the reception at the country club as well...they shut down golf on holes 1-9 for it and it was a saturday afternoon lol...it was sooo pretty! i insisted on having only calla lillies for all the decorations and wedding flowers and we had a harpist play all the ceremony music

my ex husbands dad is a minister and he officiated the wedding...i should have known it was doomed when he called my ex by his brothers name during the vows :eek: :yelrotflm :lol tears

Well our first wedding was at his mother's house. We renewed our vows for our 10th anniversary in the mountians in Arkansas. It was sooo beautiful. We had a cabin in the mountains with a jacuzzi facing the mountain view and a water fall into the jacuzzi. The ceremony was held outside of the cabin in a beautiful courtyard with a small spring surrounding the courtyard. It was just beautiful! I wish I had pics also. This was '99 and no digital cameras then.

Yep - sang solo with my group doing the background vocals and music. Still not sure how I made it through the whole song!!!

We too had an non-traditional wedding. We just got our house so I wanted to get married in the backyard. It was the worst summer we ever had, it rained every weekend that summer. It rained the Friday before the wedding and the Sunday after, but that Saturday mourning of my wedding the sun came out and it was beautiful. The only Saturday that whole summer it didn't rain. (I think some of my guests wished that they didn't have to go to a wedding):rolleyes:
