soooooooooo upset OMG I cannot believe what I am seeing on the news,Those poor people in the hurrican region are so desperate Where is the help for these poor people? I dont live in your beautiful country so I feel quite helpless but am going to donate to the red cross.I was also upset when I saw on the news a bus taking people out of town I think they were being evacuated from the super dome, anyway they showed someone having to leave their dog behind the poor little thing jumped up at the door as if to say dont leave me behind it was 9 years old apparently it had a collar on it, and what looked like a law inforcement officer picked it up and put it to the side of the road it was just too sad!!! :( (dianne and prudence) |
i know dianne it is a very sad time.. |
Our government should be ashamed of themselves.....there is no reason with the resources that we have here that those people should be out in the streets suffering like rats. I just can't believe it and the more I watch the madder I get! |

I completely agree. I actually saw a gov't official and reporter get into it because the gov't official claimed that they didn't know it was going to get this bad. Ok let's say for a minute they didn't still have a plan in case it does then if it doesn't we'll all just be thankful. But here this will make you even madder. I have to vent a minute. I live in the south, in a college town to be exact. Well its football season and the first game is this weekend. Well many people came to our town before and after Katrina. So needless to say our hotels are packed and I don't know anymore but there were shelters set up at the recreation center on campus and such. Anyway people had reservations for the hotels this weekend so they could go to the game and from what I hear hotels (mainly one that I've heard so far, and its the one of the more expensive hotels here) is kicking those people out that came up. Personally I think they should say "hey these people may have lost there homes and you don't want to miss a football game? Deal with it". The allumni assoc. sent out an email saying that if you knew anyone, friends, family, or anything, that was coming to have them stay in your home so they don't take the rooms from the evacuees. And not that it should matter but the game isn't even going to be a good one, its just that its opening game. I'm sorry guys, just had to vent a little. The south is always known to be so polite and welcoming apparently that just if you don't get in the way of their football. I didn't mean to offend anyone here, I'm from the south born and raised so I know that not everyone is like this and I'm sure some hotels won't kick people out. I just can't believe anyone would. Oh and on a good note some people are actually calling who had reservations and saying "don't make them leave I won't come and also I'll pay for their room this weekend". So its not everyone.... |
I really think its a shame too!! We are doing everything we can to help!! My dad is even discussing with my mom to take in a family from there.. It's a big desicion and he has already gotten my ok.. We have 2 extra bedrooms and 1 of them is down stairs and they would have there own bathroom. So it would be like they would have their own appartment. I would hate to put myself in their shoes because I wouldn't know what to do. I just hope for the best for all of them! |

I can't believe what I have been seeing on the television.... we have to wonder why are government hasn't moved faster... At least the elderly and children out. They have a ban of men with guns taking over the city and raping women. 50 officers walked off the job. With all our resources that we have as a country this is unexceptable  |
thank you dianne, for donating, thats very sweet. i agree that what is going on is incredibly sad. i feel so bad for that dog, think about how worried and scared he must be. i also feel awful for the people who have to leave their babies behind, or who lost everything. it is all just so sad. :( |
Seeing the elderly at the convention center just about did me in. There was no reason to leave them like that. Is this what we have come to in this country? The elderly are supposed to be revered! Not tossed away like a piece of trash! In another news item, they were talking about old people in wheel chairs wheeling themselves down muddy roads in an attempt to get help! Unbelievable! In America! This government should be run out of town and replaced! |

I agree. We offered to take a family in last night that had been flown on the lone United flight from New Orleans to O\'Hare Chicago. I feel so helpless. |

The mayor of N.O. should not have to beg and plead with the government to save our country\'s people. |

I second that. They\'re all a poor excuse for human beings letting thousand of people suffer like that. Yet another embarrassment to our country in the hands of good ole GW. |

Well said. If this happened in an affluent town or in a place like Florida where Jeb is the governor, Bush would be on the scene like a fly on sh*t. Its sickening. I am physically ill about this; its the only thing I can think about, talk about or read about. |
I agreed I dont understand why it took the goverment so long to help. I feel so bad for all the victims. I just wish I was able to do something to help. We are donating to Red Cross. If I had space I will offer my home. I will have everyone in my prayers. |
