How about pre-making Crystal Light or they have the packets you can pour into a regular size water bottle & just shake up - they have tea that way too. Water is so important for all of us - it really helps improve our skin & flush out so many impurities. I'm going to pray for all of you trying to break this habit. I would say if you can keep from having it available at work that is probably the best step. |

And while we're on the topic...don't forget sugarless gum is filled with aspartame too. When you stop and take note of how many products you consume every day contain aspartame...:( |

I'm also working on consistently getting 3 glasses of milk into my diet - this is excellent for us as women, and it has been proven that women who drink 3 glasses of milk a day can loose weight quicker - and I love skim milk - know not everyone feels that way. |

I didn't know that about milk - I think I'll have to start drinking more milk! |

I feel your pain I hate diet soda and water as well. Sadly I did the cross addiction thing and started drinking coffee when I gave up soda. Don't forget you can dilute Crystal Light with more water if you like, some people like it better that way. |
I drink water all day long...I also drink juice and skim milk...but water is my staple. For those of you trying to quit drinking colas...it can be done. I'm living proof...can't even tell you how many years it's been, but I bet it's been at least 10 years. Don't miss it at all...and I too was highly addicted to it...drank way too much of it. |
I only had 3 diet cokes today!!!! That cuts my usual intake in half:cool: SOooo...no Crystal Light or sugar free Kool-Aid...I'm gonna have to find something else:eek: |

Did you miss them? Nah! Good for you! Pretty soon we can start the YT Former Soda Drinkers Club :D |
I need to cut back on my sugar intake, but not from drinks, from food. I am a big water drinker, always have been. If I drink too much soda (like a whole can) I can feel it when I urinate because I am just very in tune with my body like that. But I have fibromyalgia and lupus, and they say that causes major carb cravings, and I believe it, lol. I do not believe in taking any artificial sweeteners (yes, that includes splenda), so everything I eat is fully sugared, lol. I am planning on cutting back, but I have to really sit down and plan it and have it all put together what my limitations and guidelines are going to be, I am just more successful when I do it that way. I still have that 15lbs (all in my abdoman ) I want to knock off, and I think significantly reducing the sugar in my diet will really help with that. I would say half of my daily calorie intake probably comes from sugar, at least . As much as I have educated myself about the dangers of too much sugar (and justified it with the dangers of artificial sugars, lol) and how anything more than 2 tbs a day depletes your bodies immune system by 90% for that day, I still overindulge daily. It's so stupid. I need to get my body to listen to my brain! |

Good luck today - you can do it again!! And after awhile, you won't miss them :) Glad you didn't have any headaches. - But remember if you get them, they are only temporary. |
I don't mind you answering for me, lol!! That was very positive:p I just want you to know I appreciate your support! |
Well, yesterday I had only 2 large diet pepsi's. Yesterday when I got home from work I drank grape juice. Hopefully I can cut back even more. |

Betsi & Ashley - how is everything going for you? Have you been able to keep your soda cut back? I am almost at one month - my last soda was Friday Feb. 20th :cheer: I feel so good, but sometimes have to work to drink enought water & flouid in the evening when I was used to having my diet coke |
Thanks for asking! I'm doing pretty good..still about 3 a day. We have been out of town for a few days, and I still did fine! You know, there is a case of cold diet cokes in my fridge at all times, and my dear hubby put a case in the trunk when we went to see our kids this weekend. He is just in the habit of making sure that I have my diet coke, only now that he's retired, he drinks more than i do:eek: I'm really not struggling with this as much as I thought I would. I'm happy to be down to 3..and yesterday I just had 2:D You gave me good advice about not going cold turkey..this is much better;) |

No, it doesn't inspire him at all, lol! He doesn't see any need to cut back because it's "just diet coke"!! Of course if he saw the need, then he would have to do it too:rolleyes: |
I had to come dig up my own thread  I was thinking I had given up soda in March - but was happy to see NO - It's Actually been 7 MONTHS!!! Hooray for me! ;) How about everyone else who was trying to give it or cut back? How are you all doing? There has only been like one time I was tempted - I was at an event that didn't have bottled water - only soda and alcohol. I survived  |

I just knew you could do it...I don't miss it at all any more. |
Congratulations.....Did you know,Many general dietary factors have been suggested as a cause of osteoporosis, including: low calcium-high phosphorus intake, high-protein diet, high-acid-ash diet, high salt intake, and trace mineral deficiencies. It appears that increased soft drink consumption is a major factor that contributes to osteoporosis. A deficiency of vitamin K leads to impaired mineralization of bone. Boron deficiency may contribute greatly to osteoporosis as well as to menopausal symptoms." I found this interesting. |
Phosphoros in sodas deplete calcium and can cause osteoporosis. I don't drink them anymore. I do have osteoporosis. I used to drinkl a lot od coke. I can't get Boneva or meds til next yr on Medicare. |
Even If diet drinks were ok and not a phorphorus the diet part is BAD for you. I think splenda is less bad for a person. Phenyl bla bla turns to formaldahide. My friend said then she would already be preserved when she dies. Not funny really. I love grape juice but straight. not diluted causes bathroom visits and could be an embarrassment. I drin cran grape from costco. Paul Newman. Yum not bad for Wwight watcher points. |
