Same here. :) I've never heard of changing your last name to your middle name. But I like Destiny Miranda Monnot. :) |
I kept all of my names - my feeling was that my parents worked hard to think of the perfect name for me and I didn't want to get rid of that, plus my former last name is part of who I am... my full name is Ashley Louise Heffner Stanhope Vaughn... it's a mouthful lol Since it's so long though on most of my official documents I'm Ashley L. H. S. Vaughn lol |
I like Destiny Miranda Monnot also... it sounds really good together. :) I kept my usual middle name & shed my maiden name happily. LOL.. (it was hard to say and hard to spell). |
I took my maiden name for my middle name 34 years ago. Maybe it is a southern thing, but I'm glad I did it! |
Hmm, I've never heard of changing your middle name either. Interesting! Personally, when I get married in November, I am sticking with the traditional method. I'm changing my last name to his. |
If you don't want to get rid of your current last name, you could always hyphenate them and be Destiny Miranda Almeida-Monnot. |
I decided to keep my name as it was and hyphenated my maiden and married name :) I liked my name and since everyone in my family had passed that could carry on the name ( atleast our branch of it) I decided I didn't want to just drop it. In my daily life I go by just my dh's last name for the most part but on legal forms and in business I use both. Congrats on the upcoming wedding !:D |
My roommate and I give two votes for Destiny Miranda Monnot it sounds good together. |
JB kept her last name, Brennan, much to the dismay of her 90 yo aunt. But, it's fun to play with telemarketers when they ask for Mr Brennan and I tell them no one named that lives here, then a couple of minutes later the same marketer calls asking for Mrs "W" (Not GWB), same answer. My vote is for "Destiny Miranda Monnot" |
Well, Congratulations!! Know you are excited!! Being a southern gal....I dropped the middle name & opted for maiden last name, but never really liked my middle name. I have to agree that Destiny Miranda Monnot has a very nice ring to it!;) Also, just a thought: if you go the other route, & really love monogramming, you're initials would be D.A.M.:( |
I don't use my middle name and I took his last name when I got married. But I have to say changing everything was a real pain in the butt! |
So funny- I thought it was the standard custom to use your maiden name as your middle name after marriage as a way to keep and honor your family name. I had no idea it was a southern thing. I actually dropped my maiden name because it was my brother's father's name (he adopted me) and meant nothing to me. I hadn't even seen him since I was a child so I was happy to get rid of it.:p Anyway, I would consider what your maiden name means to you. Do you feel like it is a part of your identity or is keeping your own family name important to you? If not, then drop it, otherwise drop your middle name. Of course you could also hyphenate but that always seems complicated to me.:D Congratulations btw!:) |
After 2 divorces, my daughter decided to go back to her maiden name. She said it was a pia to keep running to the phone co, dmv, insurance co etc to get them to change the name. :D:D:D:D |

I changed my name Wednesday. I changed it to Anna Hatton Larche...all of my insurance paperwork and my customers know me by my maiden name. To save hassle with having things in the Hatton name I decided to drop my middle name. But that's just my opinion. If you don't have anything important in your maiden name, your middle name is very pretty so you could keep it. Or another option is to have all 4 names...a little longer, but it never hurts if that's what you like! Good luck! |
i had no idea it was a southern thing either! i wanted to keep my middlename because i like it but thought itd be odd cuz everyone else changes their maiden to the middle...i think ill end up hyphenating it though... Heather Michelle Askew-Timberlake....pheww thats long lol |
I like Destiny Miranda Monnot  |
I was going to keep and use both, But, Jodi A. Gundaker-Grimm sounded like a tree disease!! LOL... I like Destiny Miranda Monnot, It sounds reallly nice together!! Congratulations on your up-coming nuptials...Blessings to you both....:congrats::hands::goodluck: |

I am old fashioned - been married for almost 28 years. When I got married traditionally the bride kept her first name, used her maiden last name for her middle name (or as in my case used her initial) and took her husband's last name. It works for me and that would be my suggestion - drop your maiden middle name, use your maiden last name (or initial) as your new middle name and use hubby's last name. |
When I got married maany years ago, I had a very short maiden name and my parents never gave me a middle name(y brothers and sisters did??) They wanted money to keep mmy maiden name so I didn't do it and I always regretted it. My maiden name was Day. So it would have been Patti Day Backman now it's just Patti Backman and everytime I am asked my middle name and say I don't have one they look at me like I a lying. Your name is very pretty so I don't know what I would do. |
