Hey, everyone! Wow! I've been MIA a while. I didn't realize it'd been so long. I ended up taking in a few foster/rescue birds and that led to me starting up and running Riley's Roost Avian Rescue and Sanctuary. So I've been super busy with that. Things have finally slowed down and settled and I have time to breathe again! S'anah (aka the Poopanut) is doing wonderfully. She is a daddy's girl now. She loves everyone, but the sun rises and sets on her daddy. I was a little sad about that so once things started settling down with the birds, I started hunting around for a yorkie of my own again. Unfortunately, I didn't find one. Well, that isn't entirely true. I found a whole bunch. I just didn't find one that I really connected with, and that was something that was really important to me. Well, surprise of all surprises I DID click with something. A Shih Tzu! A MALE shih tzu at that! Who would have ever guessed that me, the queen of pink and girly, would click with a little boy. :p So, his name is Norman. We are still working on his AKC name. I am absolutely in love with him. In other news, I have FINALLY decided on the way I want to decorate the house. We are very s-l-o-w-l-y, but surely getting it the way I want it. When I say slowly, I mean we still haven't put the first lick of paint on the walls....BUT I've finally made up my mind on the colors and that's a HUGE step! LOL So how has everyone BEEN? I have missed ya'll! |
We've missed you too and all your little girl's antics! So when do we get to see pictures of Norman? And of the bird rescue? That is just incredible that you started the rescue - are you running it out of your home or do you have a facility? Glad to have you among us! :) |
3 Attachment(s) I'm running it out of my home. I am licensed to have up to 20 birds at one time, but right now I have 10. I'm trying to keep it there because I do everything myself and more than that would be too many for me to do alone. Right now we have a routine so everyone is PROPERLY taken care of. I wouldn't want to take on more and the others not get the time and care they need. You can see pics of Norman right now. Well, kind of. Its hard to take pics of something that is never still. :p He will be 12 weeks old Thursday and weighs 2lbs 9oz. But Mike says the 9oz doesn't count because its all hair. LOL I gave him a bath last night and shocked at how much he shrunk when he got wet. |
AERRICA!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, hi hi hi!! :D I've missed you, girl! I've thought of you so many times and wondered how ya were. Your new baby is adorable!! Just adorable. How is the little chi you took in...what was her name...Izzy? Do I have that wrong? :p So great to see you here! :D :D :D |
Welcome back and congratulations on your new addition ! He is super cute .... ! |
Welcome back! Congratulatins on both your new baby boy AND your new Avian adventure. I'd love to see pics. I am so in love with African Grays! I feel there is one in my future. |
Hey girl!!! Welcome back!! You started a bird rescue! Wow!!! Thats awesome!!! Congradulations! Norman is precious!!! He looks a lot like my moms little shih-tzu! :) They are a nice breed of dog also! Well my moms is a spoiled rotten princess who is a tad tempermental! LOL Otherwise they are sweet dogs!!! Im glad everything else is going so well for you and your family and poopernut!!! :) |
Izzy-Belle is doing GREAT! She is the biggest diva EVER! She went to go and live with my mom and I swear she is 10 times the demanding diva she was at my house. Ya'll just don't know what spoiled rotten is until you see this girl now. My mom has some health issues and her poodle passed away not long ago. Her and Izzy have always had kind of a special bond so when she decided she was ready for another, I offered to let Izzy go there. BEST thing I could have done for either of them. You know how when you were growin up your mom always had that "special" set of china and silverware you weren't allowed to use? Well, Izzy-Belle EATS off of the good silver and her food is placed in this gorgeous crystal saucer that my mom bought just for her. Now, this is the same woman who would have beat me within an inch of my life if I touched that silver. I can't really say much though. Poopanut does have her special bowl and pink spoon.....they are a long way from crystal and silver though. :p Oooh Ms. Cindy african greys are such characters! They can be a bit neurotic and pluck their feathers sometimes, but in the right environment, with the right person, they are AWESOME! |
Welcome back! Norman is a cutie! And I'm glad Izzy is doing well too. Now we need pics of Susannah and Izzy :p |
My husband has an African Gray and I have to admit she does not give me warm wuzzy feelings. I agree that they can be neurotic and she has been cutting her feathers since we got Piper in July. My main gripe with the bird is it's messy and these extra feathers don't help my opinion of her. But my husband adores his Lola. I don't get it. |
Hi! Welcome back... I love your Shih Tzu!!! Well.. I"m partial, thats my "first born" around here, a purebred Shih Tzu. :p |
Nathan is a little dream boat! And I love the story of Izzy & your mom! Oh, and the silverware & china :p -- I've missed your stories and your great ability to paint a picture! :) |
