Barbie is the Big Five O So our dear friend, Barbie is turning 50 - you all know this gal, played with her as a child, bought them for your daughter, niece or granddaughter. Style Evolution: Barbie Fashion Evolution - StyleList She has changed so much over the years - but not one wrinkle or gray hair! ;) So did you have a favorite Barbie growing up? Did you collect the designer dolls? With her 39-21-33-inch curves, Barbie no doubt sets an impossible ideal. Not even Gisele Bundchen and her slinky 36-24-35-inch stats could compare. But if Barbie is No Girl, she's also Every Girl – cheerleader, rock star, teacher, President, Olympic skier, frothy beach bunny, fearless astronaut, a mover-and-shaker who's cycled through more incarnations than Madonna, Lindsay and Britney combined. The one constant: Barbie has remained the ultimate fashionista |
I think I got my first Barbie at age 38. I visited Graceland and got Barbie and Elvis. lol. I've since gotten about 3 more...mainly because of the granddaughters-one for you, one for me. ha, ha. |
Ahh... I remember Barbie as I was growing up... haha I sound so old saying that. :p I would get them for the animals they came with. :D I loved the vet one, though. |

I never had a barbie! I never liked her playing with dolls, but my sisters loved her and had all kinds of barbies. |
Still have my Barbies. :) When I was very little, I took one of them swimming in the toilet. Didn't realize that was not a good thing, until my Mom filled me in. Lol. Happy 50th Barbie..... |

My Daughter has about 50 different types of barbie dolls. International ones, nostalgic ones, you name it shes got it. Happy Birthday barbie! |
Happy Birthday Barbie!! |
Happy Birthday Barbie!! and you still look good at 50. |
Growing up my 3 sisters and I had all sorts of Barbies! I remember just having to have the Peaches and Cream Barbie.Sadly all our Barbies would end up taking mad baths, getting their hair cut and "dyed" ( markers and paint  ) not in any good shape to save after all that! My youngest sister now collects Barbies now for her daughter..who is not allowed to touch the "good ones" in fear she might take after us and ruin them:rolleyes: |
I have about 50 collector edition barbies still in the boxes. I love collecting them, they are sooo pretty. I wish I had a way to display them though... then again I don't want 100 eyes staring at me everytime I walk into a room in my house. Not sure what Im going to do with them all. |
I loved Barbie dolls and my parents even had some of mine packed away in lovely plastic caring cases, and when my daughter was old enough to play with Barbies, I dug out my old ones. Wow, was I shocked to see their hair looked so bad (no paint or scissors) but man I don't know that I ever brushed it  My daughter had so many Barbies & hundreds of pairs of tiny shoes! Oh, and the Barbie houses with their thousands of little pieces to snap together. I also bought her a ton of special Barbies - all the Christmas Barbies, and special themes - they are all still in their boxes. What we will ever do with them. I try to get the Christmas Barbies out at Christmas. She could also decorate a good portion of a Christmas tree or a smaller tree with all the Barbie ornaments she has. Barbie does make Christmas special in all her glamor! ;) So now, my daughter, the would be scientist, is a major fashionista and is helping launch a fashion magazine at her university - so who do I blame? Myself or Barbie :p |
Anyone get the Barbbie magazine? I used to I think Im going to request ome more. I loved collecting Barbies for My Daughter. I got most of them on ebay |
I just read that today - March 9 is really Barbie's birthday - but here is one girl who is not going to go down hill from 50 -- and I doubt that we will see a recession Barbie Here is a cute little real woman she site - that paid homage to Barbie - look at this cute shoes they are highlighting Barbie is turning 50! » High.Heels.com Where's MissPinKBarbie - she would definitely love these shoes! |
