Prayers going out to your mom and family. |
I am definitely a victim of Murphey's Law this week. My mom is still in ICU on a ventilator after her surgery. Hopefully they will be able to wean her off of it today. On Tuesday, when my grandmother was supposed to relieve me her van wouldn't crank. So we got her a new battery and had my uncle install it. I told her to take the van to AutoZone and get a free test to check the Alternator. Well she didn't. Yesterday I went back to work plus going to the hospital to visit my momma. Here's how my day went. I got up at 4:30 am and went to see my mom. I got to her room at 5:15 and twice the number of machines were hooked up to her as at the last visitation. She is still having to get transfused more blood as she lost alot during her surgery. I try not to talk to her because that wakes her up a little and she panics about the breathing tube. She wants it out really bad and I hate seeing her struggle against the restraints. Well needless to say some noise woke her up and so when I left her to go to work I was feeling so guilty. Anyway I went straight to work and dealt with backlog from missing Monday-Wednesday. After I went to visit her on my lunch hour I was headed back to work and my grandmother called me. While she was on her way to visit my mom, her van broke down again. Why? Because she didn't get the alternator checked like I asked her to. So I had to go pick her and my aunt up off the side of the interstate and take them home plus arrange for her van to be towed. Then I went back to work and was in a meeting for 2 hours. My boss is the best and let me go at 4 PM so that I could get back in time for 5PM visitation. I stopped and picked my grandmother up so that she could go visit too. However this made me late so by the time I got to the hospital I was rushing. In my rush, I fell outside and hurt my left wrist and skinned my knee. I was like "I'm okay" and made myself shake it off and get up and keep going. Then I got inside the building and fell again and sprained my right ankle really badly. So now I'm limping around trying to take care of my mom, take care of my grandma, take care of Jennie, spend time with Jamie and work. Please pray for my sanity because no one person can function on 16 hours of sleep over the course of 6 days. |
I don't even know where to begin in saying Thank you to everyone who has sent prayers and thoughts Misty's way. She is truly the best friend I have ever had and her family has always been awesome to me. I hate seeing them go through this but knowing that there are beautiful, kindhearted people out there praying for them gives me hope and puts a smile on my face. I haven't heard from Misty this afternoon to see how her 12 visit went, hopefully it went well. We'll keep ya'll updated. Again thank ya'll so much!! Hugs! Courtney:) |
I can understand her not wanting the breathing tube. I had that during surgery and when I woke up I was in a panic. It just breathes for you in, out, in, out. But it doesn't go fast enough so you freak out. I am so sorry your mom is going through this. It is sooo scary. Sending your mom prayers.:hands: Also am sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope your ankle is feeling better. This always happens when we are just crazy rushing. |
Ok so here's the update. Last night they started my mom on tube feedings to help build her strength back up. They did a test this morning and she isn't quite ready to come off the ventilator. So they'll try again tomorrow. Thank you all so much for your prayers! My grandma's van did get fixed so she is going to see my mom tonight. I saw her at 5am, noon, and 5pm but my ankle is throbbing, my aunt Flo is in town, and now I have chest congestion too. So I'm having to miss the 9pm visit and it is killing me. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow morning by 5. |
Ok so another update on Misty's mom, Misty went this morning to see her and the nurse told her that the were upping her mom's oxygen level b/c it had dropped. They are still feeding her through the tube, she isn't bleeding internally (like was feared) and she still has gunk on her lungs from the pneumonia. She is still not out of the woods and still in need of prayers. Thank you so much! |
Thank you for posting an update Courtney. |
Misty...I am sorry for all that you have been going through. I am still praying for you and your Mom. |
Misty, I am so very sorry to hear (read) about all of the disasters that have befallen you. I will continue to keep your entire family in my thoughts and prayers -- for a full and speedy recovery for your Mom and for you as well. It sounds like you are in great need of REST! |
Thank you for the update. We are continuing to pray for her. |
In my prayers. |
Praying that things take a huge turn for the better for your mom and for you too. |
Misty, your entire family remains in my thoughts and prayers with an extra prayers being said in behalf of your dear sweet Mom. :hands: |
Yesterday I wasn't able to go see my mom at all. I went to the doctor who said that I have Acute Sinusitis and have me some antibiotics. He said that I needed to stay away from the hospital for at least the first 24 hours so the the meds could get rid of my fever. My grandma and cousin Jennie have been going to visit with my mom. They had to put a line in to give her a round of dialysis to jumpstart her remaining kidney into doing the work of 2. Jennie said that the nurse last night told her that my mom's lungs did sound a little better. Thank you all for you continued prayers. |
Misty, I am so sorry to hear that you are sick. Acute Sinusitis is absolutely no fun at all. I sincerely hope that you respond quickly to the meds. One of the most importing aspects of your healing will be to GET REST! I was overjoyed to hear that your mom's lungs sounded better -- I will pray that her other kidney goes into overdrive and takes care of her. to you and :hands: for your entrie family. |
Misty, sorry your suffering with sinunitis. I get it and it's misrable to have, hope the meds kick in fast for you. It wonderful news your Mom is doing alittle better. Finger's crossed her kidney starts functioning properly and takes care of her. Prayer's coming for your Mom to get back on her feet and for you to feel better so you can go see her. Take care, Hugs, |
UPDATE! My momma is awake. She is alert and following commands. Hopefully tomorrow morning she can come off the ventilator! |
That is great news! |
Sending prayers! |
My mom is doing better. She is off the ventilator and in a room on the floor (YAY! No more ICU!!!!) BUT now she is very frustrated that she is not able to just hop up and run around. She is still very weak and sore (due to the huge incision made to remove her kidney and for laying in ICU sedated for 2 weeks. Plus she still has the last stragglings of the pneumonia which makes it hard for her to breathe when she is straining to sit up or turn over. Today they came in to work on moving her legs but she asked the Physical Therapist to help her stand at which point she promtly fell to the floor. So please pray for my mom's continued improvement and for my sanity! |
So glad your mom is doing better! That is excellent news - especially getting moved out of ICU :) Praying for healing & her patience & your sanity! |
