Thank you all so much! Especially Courtney who is just trying to win the Best Friend of the Year Award. After our trip to the ER last night they put my mom on a vent to help her relax and breathe and moved her to ICU. Even though she was restrained she somehow managed to pull her own breathing tube out. So they just put her on an oxygen mask. She has had every test known to mankind in the last 24 hours. It seems that on top of a mass on her left kindey the us "probably cancer", she also has fluid around the outside of her lungs and pneumonia. They will keep her in the hospital until they get the fluid and the pneumonia cleared up. Then we will probably schedule surgery soon to remove her left kidney. Thankfully we've been moved to a private room outside of the ICU where I can stay with her. I truly appreciate all of your prayers. I have my BlackBerry with me and will try to keep you all updated. |

Update Ok so I just got off the phone with Misty. Apparently the "mass" was not cancer but instead an infection. A really bad infection that is not draining properly so Misty just signed the papers for them to remove the infected kidney. Once they remove the kidney they will then work on clearing up her lungs. Misty is at the hospital with her cousins and grandmother and aunt and she sounds better than she did earlier when she was alone. Thank ya'll so much for the thoughts and prayers!! I'll keep ya'll updated on what I know and I'll post a message on the special thoughts thread. Hugs! Courtney |
Hey ya'll. So right now I'm sitting in Surgical ICU cause my mom is getting her left kidney removed. They said that it wasn't cancer but a really severe infection that had absessed her kidney so that it was not functioning. They went in to drain the infectious fluids but then came back and told me that it would just be best to take the whole thing. Since her lungs are still really bad from the pneumonia they had to put her back on a ventilator so she will go back to MICU for a couple of days. Thank you all so much for your prayers. Please continue to pray that her surgery goes well and that she doesn't hurt herself when she wakes up with a breathing tune again. |

Thank GOD! I know you would ratehr have her home with you, but this is better than it could have been. Now, they just have to get the pheniums/fluid cleared up. Angie |

omg i just read this....i'm sorry Misty your having to go through this. I'll be praying for your mom and you as you go through this time. take care up there in the central part of MS. Just know someone down in South MS is sending up prayers for you.:) |
I'm sorry that she is having to have surgery, but it does sound more promising now that they know it isn't cancer. I will continue to keep you both in my prayers! |
