How to shut down a vet practice? It is a very long story(that I will share if you want), but we have a vet practice "chain" in TN that I used for my kitten's care. My kitten died during his neuter and something about the process didn't sit right with me and I looked at its discharge papers and I noticed some of the stuff had been altered. I ended up just doing a general question in my area about the place and I was flooded with emails about how dogs and kittens had died from simple procedures or had their procedures dropped. I was angry and I completely blamed myself for killing my kitten since I should have checked them out more thoroughly in the first place. I was thinking that maybe it was a coincidence, but I keep seeing reports that are either identical to mine or just cases of complete incompetence. There are also ppl who use to work there who confirm that the technicians who are allowed to administer anesthesia, monitor heart rates, perform dentals, and neutering procedures are not licensed because they aren't required to by Value Vet. I know that pets die, but there can't be all these coincidences right? I have already filed a complaint with my state, but what other steps should I take about getting all the other pet owners together? |
I don't have any advice for you, but I hope everything turns out ok. :) |
I am so sorry about your kitten. That's terrible. Maybe talk to a lawyer to see what you can legally do. Good luck. |
File with the Better Business Bureau, and there must be some kind of licensing place that you could tell your stories too. I know they have them for regular doctors. |
TN should have a veterinary board that you can report this to. Their license could be taken away. It is not normal for a place to have that many problems reported by their clients. Techs can administer anesthesia under the supervision of a vet but I'm not sure if they have to be licensed in TN to do so. I have never heard of a tech doing a neuter and my guess is that it is illegal. Maybe try the number at the bottom of this page: Tennessee Department of Health: Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners |
