need a household tip i cant seem to get my toilet bowl sparkling anymore.. that dam ring around it is killing me... ive used practicly everthing imaginable and its not working. i probably have to get a new bowl, but for now, does anyone have a good remedy or something that would get that dam ring out? ive even left clorox there,, didnt work.help!!!! |
Have you dumped a bunch of vinegar in there and let it set and scrubbed it? |
I go to Janitorial supply places and get speed-E. I have found anything in the stores that works on tough stains. I use the speed-E on tough laundry and carpet stains also |
no mindy i havent tried the vinegara thing, but i will tonight.. thanks |
thanks too chach |
Gina, I swear to you the only thing I have ever used in a toilet bowl is, ready for this? COMET! Yep, plain comet. I have never had a stain in all the years I have cleaned a bowl! It is sparkling and shinny. The cleanser lightly scrubs the inside and the bleach keeps it from staining. It may take you a couple times in doing it since yours is discoloring but sprinkle Comet in and leave it there for about an hour before flushing. Do it again in a couple of days. If you have more than one bathroom leave it in overnight. In 48yrs I have not used anything else. I have tried those deordorizers you put in the back of the tank that is suppose to clean the bowl. All they do is turn into scum in the tank! YUK. Comet does the trick for me. |
if anyone else has any other suggestions,, let me know |
thanks carol.. i used to use the comet, dont know why i stopped.. now look what did.. lol.... i will do the comet thing too and after i scrub it, iwill leave vinegar in the bowl too. i will try anything.. cant stand it anymore. ive even used heavy duty stuff,,,didnt work |
Gina I've never tried this but I've heard pumice stones are the best if nothing else works. Pumie Brand Pumice Stone Toilet Bowl Ring Remover Good luck!:) eta- I would think you could use a regular old pumice made for feet, just provided the link so you could read how it's used. |
ooh yeah,, that sounds good nikki..... i think i have one tooo and dont use it |
Hummm, seeing that your in NY, i take it is not limerock build up like we get in FL. We used to get rings too, when we redid our baths we decided to put a water softner in, no rings anymore!!!! :DOh and the dishwasher runs spot free too! Hope you find an easy solution. |
julz, i dont know what it is..but i live by the ocean,, a short block away and everything is always rusty.. even the baseboards where my heat comes out gets rusty all the time , it stinks... ive replaced those boards like 3 times already.. i guess its the salt air |
Cream of Tartar apparently works wonders on many things, including porcelain. It is quite the bleaching agent I guess. So, you could rub some into the stain and scrub a bit - and apparently the stain disappears. |
I would think that Comet and pumic would make the bowl to porous, I used some kind of cleaner in one of my toliets a long time ago, it was blue, and I can't get the blue stains off. Guess I will try comet anyway. |
And if the Pumice doesn't do the trick, nothing will. I have a pot right now that nothing worked on for getting the ring out. Found out it was just embedded, so now we are going to buy a new toilet. (I love new things........even a toilet hehe) |
