ok...my mom had a very old toilet in a trailer they were renting for a while....and i had watched "how clean is your house"....so im thinking if it worked for them.....maybe for me...........it did........here is what you do........first turn off the water to your toilet.........and flush till now water or very little water is left in the bowl.......now take baking soda and ordinary table salt and make a paste.......put it all around the dirt line............let stand for an hour if you can.................then add vinegar........it will bubble..........let it stand 15 minutes again if you can..............dont turn on the water between the baking soda/salt and vinegar..........then turn back on your water and flush a few times using a toilet brush to loosen the stuff.....it was unreal the difference...it also helps clean the drain.........good luck!!! |
thank you so much for that tip, but i have no clue how to turn the water off in the bowl... who the heck knows about that.. i live alone.. i guess i have to call dad.. i have to see if that works too |

It's possible it could be in a bathroom cabinet, but the knobs you see there are generally to the hot and cold faucets. Perhaps there is a third knob in the cabinet. I'm sure it's "code" in most states to have a knob to turn off water leading to the toilet. |
omg forget it.. i always thought it was from the main water thingy in my basement.. who knows, i surely dont and i cant be messing around with things i know nothing about.. ya think i should know huh? since it is my house. thats what boyfriends are for. |

Gina, I just read through all the posts....is this a rust stain? If it's rust...then go to Wal Mart and buy some Iron Out. Leave it in the toilet bowl overnight (if your tank is full of rust you can put some in there too) and it will be sparkling! We have a lot of rust in our water so I use this....hardly any scrubbing to do. |
well last night i tried the come and i also tried the vinegar.. didnt work. i really dont think anything would work, it looks like its so inbedded into the porcelin |

I use to use this for various things and finally used up my bottle, and never replaced it. For example, if a pan has burned on stains you can boil 1-tablespoon cream of tartar and 1 tablespoon of salt in water and the pan cleans itself. I think I'll buy another bottle. By the way, for those that aren't familiar with it, it's sold in the spice section; I think you use it in meringues. |
