has anybody been diagnosed with gallstones i have been told with a sonogram and cat scan that i have a gallstone which is 1.2 cm has nayone had any luck going on a diet and doing a gallbladder and liver flush? i am trying not to do the operation, as i am so terrified of dr's and hospitals. they said my gallbladder is not diseased or inflamed, just this gallstone and i also have a fatty liver from a bad diet. not drinking. just wondering if anyone had any advice except to just take it out. thanks for all your help |
I had MANY gallstones. they are not something to mess with. Many people go into emerg thinking they are having a heart attack- turns out it is gallstones. I had the operation because I had many gallstones and for me- it was an end to the daily pain. They did it laproscopically- 4 small incisions- i went in for day surgery- went home the same day around 3- I can't take Tylenol 3's so i took something that was available from the pharmacits however had i been able to take Tylenol 3s i'm sure i would have been up and around a lot sooner. Please don't avoid the surgery because you are nervous- EVERYONE is nervous about surgery- it's normal- i cried- lol... but having been through it now- i'm MUCH happier without my gallbladder! |
well, i just have dull ache on my right side, so thats why i went to the dr. twice i had very bad pain in my stomach and i went to the bathroom thinking i had to go and i fainted. this has happened two times so far. otherwise since i have been a a very healthy eating diet, i have not had any problems, like gas or bloating. just the dull ache on the right side. i was reading about doing a flush, but i did not know if a 1.2 cm gallstone was too big to pass or not. i am not trying it anytime soon. anyhow i lost like 15 lbs in about 1 month. since i have been eating only good things and nothing at all that is bad i lost like 15 lbs so far in about 1 month. it is unreal |

Not only the sludge, but once the gallbladder becomes inflammed, then infection.....it can burst....then you have only 10 to 15 minutes to get to the hospital....... The surgery is a cinch....now I'm not going to lie to you, I have a low tolerance for anesthesia and gas, which is what they use to be able to see inside you with the laproscopes.....so, the gave me a bit too much of each and that's what made it painful after....not, the actual surgery. Get it done, you'll be glad inside of a week. |

I had attacks 3 to 5 times a week for a couple years. When I went for my amniocentisis, while doing the ultrasound, the Dr. said I had the biggest stone he'd ever seen. He called in all the nurses and anyone that was within earshot to come look at it. Since I was pg, I couldn't do the surgery and he wasn't sure if laser would work anyway. So I had my dtr and continued having attacks. I did the diet - not much luck. I learned how to do a little jig to move the stone off the duct whenever an attack would start. I was too chicken to have anything done. That was 20 yrs ago. I haven't had an attack in several years. No clue whatever happened to the stone. And I am definitely not following the diet. I do agree with what was said about having it taken care of. My dtr had her's out and it became major surgery because it was in process of rupturing. She has a jar full of her stones. I was just extremely lucky. |
[QUOTE=marcerella02;2440023]i had forgotten about that- the pain i felt was from the gas they put in you so that they can see what they are doing- the incisions were a piece of cake compared to that.[/QUOTE I'm so glad I had it done. I'd suffered with attacks for years. And yes, it felt like a heart attack...radiating from my back to under by breast bone, it was coupled with severe jaw ache. They ran me so many tests, thinking I had heart disease, they found nothing. I finally asked my Dr. for an ultra-sound on my gallbladder.....Had one the next day, full of stones and my gallbladder wasn't even functioning, surgery the next day. |
I had a really bad gallbladder and had to have it removed. I stayed overnight and left the next morning. I went straight to the mall - that's how good I felt. Really it's not much worse than having a tooth pulled except for the gas, like Mardelin said. |
My sister had hers removed a few years ago and has nothing but problems....The doctors don't tell you there are problems that could arise they typically tell you that you can live without a gallbladder just fine. That is not entirely true. Thirty percent of the people who have their gall bladder taken out have digestive problems. Every time my sister eats she has to RUN immediately to the rest room with diarrhea, I guess this is called "bile dumping".. She also has bloating and stomach pains. This is a real side effect from not having her gall bladder. The gall bladder is there for a reason and without one that purpose is compromised. I also hope you can resolve your problem without the surgery....You might have to do your own research in this area to get all the facts...Good luck.... |
