Would love some suggestions/ideas! 1 Attachment(s) My friend has a web site where she was showing the things she knits for sale. Now, she has decided to get rid of that site and make a whole new one featuring only doggie items. She has made so many sweaters for my dogs that she got hooked and loves knitting doggie things. She's an expert knitter and does exceptional work, which I will post a picture of these last sweaters she knitted my girls. These have no seams at all and are so soft and super gorgeous. (but are more expensive) I just got them a week ago. Her work is impeccable. Question is.........what would you like to see on a site that features hand made doggie items? Like colors, pictures, easy to surf, details and so on. I told her I would ask you guys since you really know your stuff. ;) |
Let me just first say that those sweaters are adorable! The easy navigation is the key. If the site gets confusing it tends to drive customers away. The different colors and sizes would be great, especially the sizing chart. ;) |
I agree with everything Maxi said! I also like to see the clothes being modeled so I can get a better idea of what it will look like on my babies. |
I like the cableknit sweaters in lots of colors. |
Those sweaters look absolutely fantastic. As far as a website goes, my personal preference is a "clean" site without a lot of blinginess to distract me, a site that is easy to navigate with menues that always revert back to the home page and an efficient shopping cart that shows me what I have purchased already. I also like ADD free sites where you aren't distracted by advertisements. My color preferences for those remarkable knitted items would be bright colors - hot pink, lime green, purple, electric blue and bright orange. I would love love love to see some britches with bows and matching waist length sweaters. |
I like colors you dont see alot like peach, lavendar, and bright green, fuscia |
I love those sweaters!! I would like to order some for Toto right now!! :) I agree with Chattiesmom ... I enjoy shopping on a site that is "clean" and doesn't have blingees jumping around everywhere and please, nothing chasing my pointer. I get distracted easily and like to concentrate when I'm shopping! :) I like bright colors also but like the lighter creams too .... depends on where Toto is going. You're right, her work is beautiful!:thumbup: |
I have nothing more to add because everyone's suggestions are great. Please let us know when she is ready to sell. I LOVE hand-knit stuff for my baby. ~Kathy:animal-pa |
They are beautiful. I always like a site that is easy to navigate. Tell her to make sure all her links work right before she publishes it. There's nothing worse then trying to get to a page, and finding the link isn't working. I don't like sites that have tons of fancy graphics on it, because I think it distracts from the product. Make sure when you go to the website that it comes up. Nothing worse then going to a website to find it's unavailable. You can test that out for her. I also like to know a little about the person. When did she start knitting, that she enjoys doing it, and why, but not her whole lifes story. Also, prices should be very easy to see. Who wants to go to a website where you see pictures of articles you would like to buy, but have to search for the prices. I guess that's all I can think of, because I've made a lot of websites. It takes a lot of time, and thought. If she needs any help pm me, and I'll do my best to help her out. |
OH Goodness! :D Thank you all so very much. Great information. I believe she is a second generation knitter. She said her mother is her mentor. She's almost a senior citizen and with that many years of knitting. :p The nicest, sweetest and easiest person to do business with. She will ask you a lot of questions to make sure everything is perfect and agreed with before she even starts to knit. She is fast and get's things in the mail pronto. She loves feedback with pictures. :D Maybe she will put all our babies who are wearing her sweaters on her web site. :D She lives in Ashville, NY on a lot of beautiful acres. Her hubby is into restoring classic cars and boy you should see his own. YALZA!!! Anyway, your going to just LOVE her, but best of all, your going to love her professionally made beautiful sweaters. I think she's inventing a few other things for the little dogs that aren't even on the market. It's a surprise and one you will really LOVE! I'll post her web site as soon as she gets one going. Anyone else have ideas for her site? |
Oh Donna those are so cute, is that the same lady that use the italian material?, when I want to shop I shop I don't care how the website look like:eek::D;) |

Hey Cindy, I forgot to tell you that the plum color yarn I ordered turned out to be wine instead. It was pretty so I decided to keep it rather than send it back. I did write the company about this and they gave me my money back because the color on the web site was wrong. They have since corrected a few mistakes. Anyway do you have wine color silk? I can send you a piece of the yarn if you want? |
