Ring engraving? How do you go about finding a reputable jeweler (that is who does ring engraving, right? :p)? Are there online companies that you can send your ring away for engraving? Thanks! |
I just take mine back to where I bought it from and they do the engraving there or send it out to get it done. I feel that doing it like that, there's no reason for them to pull a swap on me and would at least do a decent job for the sake of company pride or what have you. :p Also, by doing that, it's often a "free" service. |

Finding a jeweler you can truly trust is difficult. We live in a small town and when hubby bought loose diamonds (in Colorado) to be made into my engagement ring we had the one local jeweler that we trust design the ring and set the stones. No one else has ever touched that ring besides Greenes. If the ring is very valuable I would find someone locally - perhaps a long time well established jeweler. You might also ask friends and relatives who they use. |
Thanks everyone! It's a Tiffany ring and from what I've read they only do engravings of three letters. Isn't that odd? |
It just so happens that I got a set of bands from Tiffany last October. At the time of purchase, the sales woman, as much as I loved her and recommend her, didn't mention anything about engravement service. We had called back a week later to see about getting the rings engraved as I was fully prepared to pay a premium for it to be done by them. As it turns out, they informed us that as long as you bought the ring from them (bring proof of purchase--not sure if they'd do it without), it's a free service they provide. We just need to drop it off and it takes 10 days. The one in Vancouver, BC, Canada sends it over to Ontario, Canada to get it hand engraved. They completed it on time! We actually took it to them for the engraving closer to December so there doesn't seem to be a "time limit" for when you do it. I believe mine is a size 4.5 band while the hubby's is something like an 8. Besides their signature branding and material used laser etched into the band, we were able to put in whatever we wanted. "Truly Madly Deeply 10-08-2008" ;) And we requested for a "script" type font, and dots between the date rather than dashes, and so forth. There were no real limitations. We were only warned that on mine, it'll be more difficult to read while on his, it should read clearly. I can read mine just fine. :p They did manage to fill all the space available. I'd highly recommend going back to them to get it done whether you still have the receipt or not or if you're still in their system, I think it's worth a try! |

3 Attachment(s) Okay, this is the best I could do with my camera and lighting :p Please make like you didn't see the dead skin and dirt and dust on and around the ring. 'else I'd be too embarrassed to share future on-the-fly pics! :2omg: And this all on my smaller one, so on my hubby's, his was a wider (5 ring as opposed to 3 ring height) and a larger finger size, it came out much more clearer to the naked eye, but it's all fairly well done, IMO. :) |
It looks great! I'm going to be calling Tiffany soon. Thanks for sharing. |
Thanks, Nikki! :animal36 And I'm happy to have been able to help, BubblPopElectrc! ;) Good luck! I love Tiffany's since they welcome your furbabies in their stores and ON the floor! :animal-pa |
