GRRRR....New Technology!!! I *love* new technology and am usually an 'early adopter' of cool new gadgets. But I always seem to be the one who finds all of the kinks when I'm setting up or installing! Just this week I've connected 2 computers to 1 monitor at work, so that I can consolidate both my offices into one. I really stressed out over getting the KVM switch to work. It works flawlessly now, but what a hassle! Now I"m trying to get my Harmony 880 remote to work. Once it's setup, I can control my TV, Satellite receiver, HD Tivo, DVD, VCR, XM & Bose radio with it. I can push the button that says "Watch DVD" and it will turn on the DVD player, turn on the TV and turn the TV to the correct Video Input. Sounds wonderful, I know. But getting all the things programmed in has been a hassle. RIght now, I'm trying to get the volume adjustment to work. Then I have to get to work on mapping the LCD screen touch screen to do all the functions I want. I think when this project is finished, I'm through with new tech-toys for awhile. :p |
There's RemoteCentral (www.remotecentral.com) which has lots of tips and scripts (downloads for popular brands) there if you need em. But yes, programming a remote is a big fat PAIN! But once you have it set and with macros, nothing could be simpler! :) |
