Need some help from people using Verizon wireless My fiance and I are looking into combining our cell phone plans into one account. Currently, we are with Alltel but we are looking into the possibility of switching providers because of cost. I was just looking on Verizon's website but I can't seem to find anything about adding a second line to a plan. Do any of you know anything about it? With Alltel, you pay ~$15/month for the second line and then the two phones share minutes. Any idea how it works with Verizon? |
I have Verizon and i have both my parents' and DH on a family share plan. The extra lines are I think only $9 or $10/month each...not sure exactly but we all share 700 minutes. It is called the family plan. I have been with Verizon since the 80's when it was called GTE. I get to upgrade every 2 years to the newest phone. I just go my pink blackberry and i love it!! I would check your area for the coverage too. Some of the providers don't cover all areas. On the family plan, we are charged any minutes within all of our cell phones so we never even get close to the 700 minutes. Good luck! They are always offering specials too. |
It looks like you have to have a primary account first. At the verizonwireless.com homepage there is a link to add a line, but it will make you sign in. Here are the options once you do: Add A Line Please select an option that applies. I want to add a new Individual Plan I want to upgrade to a Family SharePlan® I want to keep my individual Plan and add a new Family SharePlan® (requires a minimum of 2 lines) Look at the standard plans to add a new Individual plan. The Basic Family Share Plan starts at 700 minutes for $69.95 and goes up to Unlimited for $199.98. If you want more info, PM me your email address and I will send you a word document. I can't get everything to display properly here. Hope this helps. |
Thanks for that information! I was curious what was beyond that sign-in page...seems to me like that kind of information would be beneficial for all customers to see, not just ones that already have an account. I think we're going to go to the mall tonight or tomorrow..most of the providers have booths or stores set up there. I think the best way to make sure we get a good deal is just to comparison shop and see what they'll offer us!:D |
With Verizon if you take a family plan that price shown is for two lines. If you have to add additional to the two it's $9.99 per line. |
Each addition line is $9.99 a month and you have to have at least 700 minutes to get more than one line. It is all on their site and you don't have to be a customer to read it. :) You should also get free phones |

My dtr works for the Phone Connection at WalMart. I know you can get a much better deal if you go there than you can at a Verizon Store. More selections as far as the free phones go. If you'd like, I'll ask her to PM you when she gets home from work tonite(about 9:45) or tomorrow. She can answer any questions you have. |
