Am I the only one the whole wide world that is still on dial-up? I hate to complain, but I have been waiting for over a year for DSL to come to my neck of the woods. We could get Hughes net, but it is twice as much as what the DSL will be when we finally get it. (sigh) I call my phone company every month to check the availability. One of these days I will be pleasantly surprised. :rolleyes:

Luckily, I don't have dial-up but my Mom does! :eek: It's the only thing she can get too.

Ugh, I'm trying to download an update for my media player, but it is taking forever and making my pages reload SO s-l-o-w.

You are not the only one. My MIL has dialup still. No reason for it other than she is frugal. :)

We got free standing dsl last year, but I honestly don't see much difference from dial up. The computer is still soooo slow!!! I don't understand how some peoples computers are so fast. It REALLY frustrates me to no end most days. It seems to run kinda fast sometimes then it starts to give me trouble, then I restart my computer. It's okay for awhile. I probably restart my computer 3-4 times a day.

My boyfriend's parents still have dial up. DSL is not available in their area. We were visiting for a week and my boyfriend spent so much time sending in his daily reports for work. I only bothered to check my email once. It was SO slow. I don't miss the dial up days! Hope it comes to your area soon kcook323.

daaang. that sucks! You can't get cable internet either? I used to have cable internet through comcast. it costs more but it goes fast! Or if you have a PDA cell, you can use internet sharing on it, and hook the cell phone to the computer and the computer gets the highspeed internet. I had to do that when we were staying on an AFB that only had dial up.

My parents still have dial-up. Cable is offered in their area but it is significantly more expensive than the dial-up. Since they've never had "fast" internet, they really can't see a reason to justify the extra money. I, on the other hand, HATE using the internet at their house! It is sooo SLOW!

Nope. No cable either, and our cell phone service isn't that great, although, there is another tower going up not too far from my house. I hope when they finish, we can get a stronger signal. If someone calls me on it while I'm at home, it is nothing for it to drop the signal a time or two. Texting goes pretty good on it, unless I'm sending/receiving pixs.

Have you done maintenance such as deleting temp files, defragging etc? It usually helps a lot with the speed.

Have you ran ad-ware and spy-ware programs and all that good stuff?
