Hey, you're right, you're right, I concede, you're right! I really didn't mean to offend anyone. I guess I actually probably feel the same way I perceive you do, jmdt. It gets a bit boring to hear the news people address the most ridiculous issues over and over again. I actually hadn't thought about using yorkietalk as an open forum. Duhhh! When I think about that now, I see I'm the "out of touch" one here. Sorry if I insulted anyone. I didn't mean to dismiss anyone's opinion and in the future I will be more careful about what I say. |
I think they are cute and I really dont mind hearing about them |
Again, they look like very sweet girls, but how are they role models. I just don't get it. I can't see my girls coming to me and saying they want to be like the Obama girls. What? You are right unfortunatly the media can do anything they want. Just to mention the toy that happened to be attached to the little girls backpack can send sales through the roof. All I'm saying is why, mention it, and I personally don't want to hear about it. I think it's great that there are going to be kids in the White House. How exciting for them. Those kids look like they are very grounded and they are very family orientated which is great. |

well, they may not be role models but it's nice to see well behaved, smart kids on TV for other kids to see. it's better than birtney or lindsey. |

oh also forgot to say..i am sure the kids don't like being followed by the cameras for every move they make. i feel bad for them since the kids did not sign up for it. But I think they will be fine since they are grounded and they have great parents to help them get through the first year. |
As far back as I can remember, the President's kids have always been in the media - whether they wanted to be or not. It's how Obama treats the attention that will matter, maybe. I think it's all new and will die down somewhat but really no different than hearing about Bush's kids or Clinton's daughter or other past president's kids. I just hope it doesn't all go to their heads and they continue to be the young kids that they are. |
Maybe the media is going to focus more on the Obama girls because a) their dad made history and b) they are so young, whereas the rest of the white house kids were teens or older. I could be wrong, but has the white house ever had kids younger than the Obama girls? |
