OMG... I Had THE Worse Start To The Day Today! I woke up this morning to this HUGE BANG followed by another a few seconds later! A pipe from the cold water tank had split and was leaking water out down through the roof and onto the boiler in the kitchen and a couple of plug sockets! The plug sockets exploded along with the fuse for the boiler, there's black marks from 3/4 up the wall to the ceiling. I tried to turn the water off but I couldn't find the darn stop tap ANYWHERE - seriously, no where! :( I phoned my landlady and she was in just getting on a plane in Teneriff to come home so said just get someone out to fix it and I'll pay them tonight. I had no electric because the main fuse had blown and tripped everything, I couldn't turn the water off, I had no landline to spend ages calling around for someone to come out on and even if I had I have no phonebook. So I had to go up to my Mums. Finally, after 2hrs of ringing around and an hour waiting I got some bloke to come out with his dad and they found the stop tap which had the actual tap broken off so I wouldn't of noticed it even if I had of looked in that cupboard. I now have no leak, a boiler that's been dried out and working and some new fuses, a very wet carpet and dirty scorche marks up the wall! Fun eh? To top it off I was actually going to decorate my kitchen yesterday but decided to do it today instead... imagine if I had of done! I couldn't do it today because everything is still drying out. Tomorrow it should be all dry again and I can paint... I've already started spraying the patterned tiles on the otherside of the room tonight while Amelia is in bed. |
OMG....you really DID have an AWFUL day! What the heck? I would be at the end of my last raw nerve. I hope things get better. If not, I would totally start breaking plates or something. :p |

I am so sorry for you.......but you came through like a trooper and you and the girls were dry......We women are so tough, you did awesome and listened to your instincts and you don't have to RE-DO a kitchen. Good job. |
wow sounds very rough hope you have a much better day tommorow. |
:( Well I hope since you said you had a Landlady that means you rent and don't have to pay for all this... sounds costly! What a pain!!! I hope all goes back to normal for you soon. :) |

He said he was going to invoice her for £150, ($300) and he was only here for maybe 2hrs. |
That is a TERRIBLE start to the day! I hope tomorrow is better and that you will be able to get your kitchen decorated. |
Gee what a rough way to start the day. Sorry this all happened. Thank goodness you didn't decorate any earlier!!! |
OMG that's AWFUL! I feel SO bad for you! I saw your status on FB this morning and thought "Well that can't be a good thing." UGH what a disaster! |
At least it doesn't sound like there was any damage to any of your personal things. Just damage to the carpet and stuff. We had a house in the area here blow up because their water heater or something was broken and it blew up, the house wasn't left standing. |
Holy Moly!!! That sucks! Im glad the landlady is nice. The one I had before I bought this house would be like... oh well, what do you want me to do:eek: |
