cat people? HELP! We have a kitten that supposed to be now about 5 months and she's still really tiny. She's grown a little, but not as significant amount as you would think. We got her a few days shy of 2 months ago when they said she was about 3 months. She is about 1/2 the size of an adult cat. Is there such thing as cats staying tiny or maybe she just is growing slowly? Is there anything that could cause stunted growth. Attached is a picture of Mojo, our adult, next to the kitten, Trixie. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...8/DSC04245.jpg |
aww she's really cute! I dont know much about cats...mine both grew pretty normally. Most of the kittens that I've ever seen/known have grown in the blink of an eye. I'm sure that someone on here *must* have an answer for you! |
She does not look overly small to me. Have you had her examined by a vet? A vet will tell you if she is small for her age. I got my Himalayan when he was supposedly 3 months old. I got him from a pet store. He was malnourished. I could not leave him there. My vet said he was probably from a kitty mill, taken too soon from his kitty mom and was probably only 2 months old. With the help of my vet and lots of TLC, I literally hand fed that tiny thing. Today, he is a big, beautiful boy. You would never know he had such a rough start. I am so happy that he found me that day! Have fun with your new kitty! |
no she really looks like her size should be. but i do know they they are all sizes. We've had alot of cats over the years. I used to have one that was small for his age then i have one right now that's 3 1/2 year female and she weighs 16 lbs. She's been spayed and gets no exercise....so she eats the cat food for weight mangagement now....lol we had one outside for 12 years he weighed 17 lbs and he got alot of exercise. I don't think you can stunt their growth, they just come in all sizes. our neighbors cat stays at our house now and she's about 5 monthes old and that's about how big she is too. just love them and they will be fine.:D |
Oh, such a pretty white kitty. Love the picture of your adult kitty with your new one. They are beautiful together. A lovely, lovely picture. ~Joanne~ |
Is Mojo a male cat? It isn't unusual for the females to be smaller than the males. You could try giving her a supplement and that may help her growth. I use to have two black barn cats that came to me malnourished. I started giving them vitamins and the male cat grew significantly more than the female. She remained a petite girl. |
i have a 4 year old cat that is still a small kitty. looks like a kitten, some cats just stay small. its okay. nothing to worry about. |
Thank you all. I just wanted to hear it from everyone that this was okay. The cat we had before them was about 14 lbs and was a 17 year old female. I think she was bigger than Mojo. I've just never seen such a petite cat. I've also never seen a kitten lay around so much. She just likes to relax. She does play, but most of the time she likes to lay on her favorite spot on the couch. |
She is soooo cute:D:D I don't think she is to small, as long as the Vet gives her a clean bill of health I would not worry. I have had cats all my life and she looks nice and healthy and before you know it she will get the same size as her sister. Then you will go "when did she get so big"!!!??? Enjoy her now that she is still just a kitten:D:D |
She is normal. Cats are not like dogs in their growth pattern. A 5 month old yorkie would be much closer to their adult size than a 5 month old cat. Cats seem to grow so slow compared to dogs. Don't worry, as long as your kitty is eating and drinking well and is in good health (make sure she is dewormed, its so hard to get rid of worms in cats!) then don't worry. |
I grew up with an assortment of barn cats with one or two house cats at a time. They all grow differently (kinda like yorkies:)) some stay petite, then you have your 20 pound killer cats. Your little one looks fine to me, and I'd say if he (she? I don't think i read what sex lol) is eating fine and playing then they're probably fine, but if you're nervous head to the vet. pretty kitties! |
All cat's are different sizes I had a 7 lber & I have a 21 lber. |
