Christmas is NOT OVER!!! Keep Celebrating!!! So many people think that after the 25th... that is IT... Boom... put away the decorations and throw away the gift boxes....... Well, it is only the FIRST day of Christmas for me!!! I am going to enjoy it to the fullest....... Here is some interesting information for you. You can also do some research on the web about it, too!!! The Twelve Days of Christmas is probably the most misunderstood part of the church year among Christians who are not part of liturgical church traditions. Contrary to much popular belief, these are not the twelve days before Christmas, but in most of the Western Church are the twelve days from Christmas until the beginning of Epiphany (January 6th; the 12 days count from December 25th until January 5th). In some traditions, the first day of Christmas begins on the evening of December 25th with the following day considered the First Day of Christmas (December 26th). In these traditions, the twelve days begin December 26 and include Epiphany on January 6. So to YOU all Today, the FIRST day of Christmas........ :xmascand:MERRY CHRISTMAS :xmascand: !!! |
YES! Keep celebrating! |
Nope, nope nope, It's over for me, Bye, bye, farewell, see ya later. lol |
Great thread! I always thought the 12 days were the days leading up to Christmas. Thanks for sharing! :) |
Awww, thanks. Thats so great. I always feel such a let-down after the 25th ends..... like ,let me remove the decorations now. This Christmas was very different for me... a new location, new situation.... tons of snow to dig out that I never had before... LOL...:p ..... so it would be nice to continue some of the spirit of Christmas, even if just mentally & letting the lights stay lit. .. for a while. :) I turned my lights back on tonight after skipping last night. |
Everything is so rushed, with party's, church programs, work gatherings, cooking, shopping before the 25th. The days after are relaxing, if you are not rushing again, this time putting everything away. So by actually celebrating the 12 days of Christmas, you can "wind down" slowly and take a breather. Our lights will be lit at least thru New Years.... maybe the weekend following. And slowly, I can fiddle around putting a few things away here and there. :) I have a friend that is very insistant that the tree comes down on the day after Christmas, and I am sure it is great having it all put away, but then she complains that she worked her butt off throughout the entire holiday..... "and now it's over" Enjoy!!!! |
We celebrate again on New years and then we put our decorations away |
Hahaha my family is so lazy, we usually put the tree away in like February or later lol I don't want to put my tree away, because it's covering a gap on the wall where I need something to spice up the place. It's my first house, so I don't have anything pretty really... I'll probably just put a giant dog bed there until I get something decorative. |
Great thread!! I too hate hurrying ... we keep lights/decorations up and lit until at least New Year's ... sometimes later!! My "Santa" would like them up all year!!:thumbup: |
We leave them on up to Jan 5/6 , Three Wise Men Day,the day the three wise men arrived to Bethlehem, kids usually receive a little something on that day too, so my tree and decorations will go down by around 7 or 8. I always leave out some red candles and candle holders for Valentine decorations, and from there we start all over again, Valentines My son's 21 Birthday DH 50's Easter, and on and on... |

My friend, who is really into the "Victorian" thing, likes to leave her tree up, without ornaments and just has amber lights on it. It is very "warming" in the winter and adds just enough light to make a "mood". It may be an idea for you until you find what you want to put on that wall. ;) |
