Thieves..Pick Pocketers, Be Watchful. Oh my gosh, please everyone beware of pick pocketers. My Papa was at the grocery store, was checking out in line and went to pay for his groceries and no wallet, someone had lifted his wallet. The elderly lady in line behind him looked into her purse and her wallet was missing too, and the person behind her also had his pocket picked of his wallet too :mad::mad:we hear of this happening way too often, it is so sad. Be real careful when out and about, especially if someone bumps into you,we had this happen to a friend and lo and behold at the same time his wallet was lifted from his pocket. Papa had to go get his drivers license renewed, and get a new bank card, and being on limited income that was hurtful for him and my Mama. Just made me cry when my sister told me. She went and got him a new wallet today so she and us are going together to give Papa and Mama that which was stolen. Then last week Papa was raking leaves and lost his wedding ring. My Sis said Papa took the bags in to go through the leaves, and spent hours going through those bags of leaves looking for it, my brother in law even went over and helped look for it but it was not found :( I do believe him loosing that ring hurt worse than the thief stealing his wallet. Please pray that he finds his ring out in the yard and that it didn't fall into the leaf bags. Papa is 95 isn't it amazing at his age to be out raking and doing, he is amazing, he could run circles around us, all in all we each feel so blessed for him to be his age and be able to do all that he does is such a blessing. Thank God for his good health and able to do all he does, we are ever so thankful, thanks in advance praying for him to find his wedding ring. Hugs, Patti and Jack and Girls |
How terrible! I am so sorry that happened to your Papa and the others. How wonderful that he is so active at 95. I will pray he finds his ring. |
So sorry to hear about that. I carry my pocketbook over my shoulder to where someone would have to fight me to get mine..There are so many dishonest people out there though, so yes, everyone needs to be careful I know how upset he has to be about his wedding ring. About 3 years ago, I was laying in bed, and my engagement ring kept feeling funny on the sheets, the next day I looked and the diamond was gone. Now, I'm not a "diamond" person, but, it was the thought of losing something I had had for 29 years. My hubby went out that Christmas and bought me a new diamond for it..It's a terrible feeling to lose "part of you". |
My mom lost her wedding ring in the garden once. So my dad felt bad and bought her a new one. 7 years later they were both in the garden and my dad looks down and says to my mom "wheres your ring?" She says "its right here on my finger". Then my dad says "well, now you got 2". The ring she lost showed up 7 years later!!!!!! Special things always have a way of finding their way back to their owners. I'm just glad your Papa is safe and healthy! Thats all that really matters! |

Stealilng gets so much worse this time of year. I'm sure the store have lots of surveillance cameras and can catch whoever did that. Do you know of anyone with a metal detecter who can come over and search the yard for the ring? Your poor papa. I hope Santa is especially good to him this year. |
Oh Patti! This is terrible! I feel so bad for your Papa and the others that also lost their wallets! Bless their hearts! It seems even dirtier when a crime is against an elderly person. Shame on whoever did that to them and I hope that the cameras in the store can find the person who did this. I will pray for your Papa to find his wedding ring. A metal detector would be good to use right now and even on the bags of leaves, if he hasn't yet thrown them. You are truly blessed to have your parents still with you and able to live on their own and do the things they do. I am happy for you! Hugs to you and yours! |
I am sorry about this.. how scary.. but to be that age and raking is so great.. It is so bad this time of the year it almost makes you not want to go shopping.. put your money and drivers license in your zippered pants pocket.. I will do this tomorrow in fact when I go out.. anne |

I am soooo sorry to hear that your Dad lost his ring. Hopefully he has found it, if not, the metal detector is a good idea. One can rent a good one to use at less cost than buying. Be sure that it has an excellent setting for gold. I know when my husband 'lost' his wedding ring this fall, he went almost crazy looking for it and for two days wore something around his ring finger especially at work like a bandaid...and we have been married only a little over two years! Mercy (he did find it in the laundry where it had fallen off :) ), what would your Dad be feeling???????? I will pray for him and also that he finds his wedding ring. |
