I LOVE THIS FORUM!
I'm 41, divorced and live in Tallahassee Fl. My Asia is 4 1/2 months old and loves meeting people. I rent mini-warehouses and U-haul trucks for a living and Asia comes to work everyday. All my customers love her. I love to camp and I'm glad to see so many others here do to. My home away from home is a antique pop-up (69 coleman)Asia will be going on her first trip in august so I hope to get plenty of advice.

I got Asia as a b-day present from my step-father. He has had 2 Yorkies in his life and misses them so much. They travel to much to get 1 of their own right now so he borrows Asia to love on. Grandparents love to spoil their grandkids. My mother took pictures of Asia to work to show off her "grandchild".

I have been putting this off but it's my turn I guess. Thank you fasteddie for this wonderful forum!

I live in San Diego, California with my husband of 20 years, a dentist, and 3 of my four children. My oldest daughter, Rebecca is 18 and attending her first year of college at Brooks Institute of Photography. She has a 9 month old yorkie named Buddha and is the reason I have my 9 month old Hefner. She asked for a yorkie for XMAS and had wanted one all my life so I got two!

My second daughter, Amy is 17 and she has Princess Chai who is a gold and white yorkie and is 6 months old. My son is Joss and he is a surfer and a water polo player and my youngest is Madison who is 13! We have a 4 yr old female westie named Billie and a 3 year old standard poodle named Jet as well as a 2 year old persian cat named Paris.

I am an attorney by profession and I used to be a partner in a general civil litigation firm up in Northern California where I practiced family law, real estate, estate planning and entertainment law. My kids worked in the "industry" and I was a talent agent when they were younger so that is why the entertainment law. We spent a lot of time in San Francisco on jobs. Yes, I am a "stage mom".

In 1999, before my oldest started high school, we decided to sell everything, take a sailing trip sabbatical and relocate to San Diego where most of my husband's family live. My family was a little upset as they are all in and around Sacrmento, but we see them a lot since it is only an hour and 20 minute flight! We are having a family reunion over July 4th at Bear River valley to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary!

I now manage our two dental offices and dote on my kids, my husband and my furbabies. I live 10 minutes from the ocean and I have a beautiful view from my new house.

I am a Board member in the Poway Chapter of the National Charity League which is a mother/daughter philanthropic organization where the girls and moms do community service work. I was the chair of our annual Holiday Home Tour this past Christmas and I am proud o say that we raised $25,000 that was donated to our local library and our senior center's Meals on Wheels program. I am now the liason for the San Diego Youth and Communty Services which renders asssistance to homeless teens in our community. It is rewarding work and it is something meaningful my girls and I do together. We do work for the Humane Society, MADD, The American Cancer Society, our local Family Violence Center, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity as well as many more.

I am blessed with great health and I try to exercise regularly and eat well but if anyone wants to start a YT Weight loss challenge, I will be the first to sign up. I love good food and my husband is a great cook!!

Okya, I've bored you enough so I will leave you with my motto
,

Live with passion, Laugh everyday and love like you've never been hurt!!!

i guess i could add my story to this post...

Not much to say but here it goes.. my name's Kelly. i'm 19 and will be turning 20 on oct. 14th. i was born and raised in oklahoma city, ok. I plan on moving to Florida when i finish school. My major is dental hygiene and i'm a server at TGI Fridays. I'm very girly! i love shopping, make-up, and having my hair and nails done!!! My hobbies are playing guitar, singing, and racing.. i got into racing after i bought my first camaro.. it wasn't fast or anything ..but i was only 16.. so it's okay.. however, i got into the "car scene" and decided that i just had to get a fast one!! so after i graduated high school.. i bought myself a Camaro SS .. i have to admit i was scared of the car at first..but now.. i have no fear!! you should see all the guys that are like wow.. i cant believe thats a chick! i think it's funny! I still currently live with my parents. I have the most wonderful boyfriend in the world! His name is Brett.. He will post on here occasionally.. We met in kindergarden..then in 2nd grade he moved an hour away..and over the years we just some how kept running into each other and finally decided to start seeing it other! i'm a true believer of fate now! haha. lets see what else.. i've been an animal lover my entire life.. growing up i had a cocker spaniel name Kooler after the main dog in pound puppies.. then when kooler was gettin old we got our first jack trapper..we only had him 3 weeks and he had a seizure and died... we decided to try again and got another one.. his name was max.. Kooler died about a year after we had max.. then we got another jack russell named jake... all i can say from that experience is that we are CRAZY!! those dogs are nuts! moving on to the yorkie! I had been wanting a small dog.. i told brett in feb. and he said okay we can get a dog.. i ask my parents and they were like absolutely not!! i cant really blame them! so on spring break while brett and i were in Florida i started bringing up gettin a dog again.. and when we got back we sabed our money for a few weeks and finally i called on a yorkie i saw in the paper.. Brett went to go look at him and fell in love.. he bought Bentley and brought him over..I fell in love with the little guy!! i wasnt the only one.. my parents who were AGAINST the whole thing.. love the dog as much as i do!! my mom is even considering getting one!! how crazy is that!! i plan on gettin another yorkie in october so bentley can have a girlfriend!! i guess i'll wrap it up now! But a closing word.. I just wanted to let everyone know that .. i love this site! you guys are all so great!!! i didnt really know that much about yorkies until i stumbled upon this site!! and thank you fasteddie for creating the site!!

thank you. you know i was really seriously going to do that when i was like 9 that was all i thought about. then my dog got hit by a car. i think i'd still be able to handle it though. its the helping part i love. the only part that scares me is euthnaiza. i would never want to be the vet that puts someone's pet to sleep(i know when its done its for the best) i think it would be a lot less nausiating then aspca officer, though. and they have to be calm with the owners of the animals i don't think i'd be able to remain calm. i think i'm the one who would end up in handcuffs lol. i think i might run for president when i'm a lot older. i really really want to do that too. oh well i have a while. thanks again!

Well here it goes

I am 45 years old and the mother of 2 great human kids. My son is 21 yrs old and just finished his Junior yr of college, he is a Sports Management & Physical Education major - he is a JOCK thru and thru and was captain of his college soccer team last year. My daughter just turned 18 yrs old and will be gradutating from HS on June 23rd, then going on to Cosmetology school, wants to open up her own salon. I have attached a photo of my 2 human children

I have been married for 22 years. I grew up in Michigan (Livonia in the winter - Mackinaw area in the summer) but relocated to Connecticut 23 years ago by the company I work for. I work for the insurance company CIGNA. I am the Ass't director of the Data Quality dept for the Finance Org. I do the root cause analysis for all issues on our data wareshouse that the dept uses (i was originally in the sytems org) . I traveled for 2 yrs for them and had a choice to be relocated anywhere they had an office and chose CT as I met my now husband while traveling back then and he was from here. I just love CT as we have the ocean, only 90 miles from NYC (which I love) and only 90 miles from Boston (which I also love). I also own 3 pageant systems (which helps pay for college for my son)

Of course we now have Bella - she is 5 months old this coming week. Since my son is out of the house except for breaks and my daughter is, well a 18 yr old and never home, I was really going through the "empty nest" syndrome and Bella has helped. We also have 2 - 13 yr old cats but cats aren't the same, they only want you when THEY want something LOL. My kids say Bella is more spoiled then they are and I guess they are right. I am definetly practicing for Grand kids - CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I'm going to spend a day catching up on this thread - there's great people on this site for sure -

I'm not that interesting - I'm Villette - 46 years old feeling like 25 in my head....I left home young - lived my own way - ended up in California at 17....had an ooopsie and was blessed with my fantastic son Reid....got married and had my other son Brad....and had a pretty nice life as a stay at home mom for a while. My oldest Reid is getting married in August - so I'm finally going to be a MIL ! He has 2 weiner doggies that are HIS babies....Brad is still 'Finding himself" as you can see - he's a wanna be Eminem !

I left my 1st husband who I'm still friends with - watched my boys grow and worked full time for a Airline Charter Company - got married AGAIN 4 years ago to a man who is now terminally ill...so it's pretty hard day to day sometimes...but to make the most out of life - we are blessed with our 2 girls Chanel & Cheri - and a Clueless Cocker Spaniel named Tessa....My hubby loves them as much as I do...

I work from my home running the business end of a Flooring Sales & Installation Company which is pretty slow these last few months - and which is why I'm VERT grateful for this site ~ and my girls - I live for their happiness !

First pic is Reid and Me ....2nd is Brad...3rd is all three of us...

This is a nice thread - now I need to get reading again...

Hi all!!!

First, thank you, thank you, thank you FastEddie for setting up YorkieTalk. What a stroke of genius!!!! I don't know what I would have done without it and all the great people on this site after we got Mojito. Everyone has been so warm and welcoming and unbelievably helpful.

It's great to see such a wide range of ages and geographical locations represented on this site!!

Mary Ellen, this thread was a GREAT idea. thank you!

I also couldn't help but notice that Brownie's Mom's bday is the day before mine. I'll be turning 29 on June 23rd. Happy early bday to you!

I'll try to keep this short and sweet. My husband and I live in Hell's Kitchen, NYC. We just recently moved back to New York after a great four-and-a-half year stint (we like to think of it as an extended honeymoon!) in San Francisco. (We're both from New York -- I'm from Westchester and my husband is a born and bred Manhattanite.) I wanted a
Yorkie while we were in San Fran but neither of our landlords would allow us to get a pup. (It's tough to find a rental in SF that will allow dogs!!)

I'm a PR professional that started out at a PR agency and was eventually hired by one of my clients and did corporate, in-house work in Silicon Valley, CA for a little more than a year. We moved out here in late February and I did contract work for my old company for a few months and I'm now looking for a new gig. My husband sells ad space for ESPN.

Um... I grew up with two Yorkies. My uncle bred and showed them in the 70's and 80's so I've always loved them and couldn't imagine getting another breed. (My husband loves bulldogs but that definitely wouldn't work in our fifth floor walk-up!) Once I convinced my husband that Yorkies are truly amazing little souls and that the popular opinion is totally wrong we went and got our baby, Mojito. We've had him for almost two months and he's the light of our lives!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Mojito & Irmi

red98vett 06-12-2005 10:56 AM

irmi623 - Irmi Your hubby sells ads for ESPN?

My son is the S.A. Spurs Fantasy Sports Writer for ESPN's Website ....He also writes for a radio station - Got any Tips for him at ESPN ?

lol..This is funny - I went to his site and left some comments as anonymous..lol.....just little stuff about his forcasts ...and I got BUSTED !!

I was on aol with him one night and he said...."Oh and mom ...you can quit posting on my site as a guy...I know it was you leaving all those comments" ...LOL...We moms have to stand up for our babies ! So ....any tips ? :D

mybirdys2003 06-12-2005 12:22 PM

 Well, here goes! I am almost 65 (July 13th) am also overweight. I just lost 50 pounds and need to lose 31 more! How did I ever get that big? Really like food! Ha! I am 5 feet 2 inches. I married my husband 47 years ago when I turned 18. I knew everything, right? Well, it has worked out and I have 4 children: Joe is 45 and lives in Peoria, Arizona. Dan is 44 and lives in North Bend, Washington (by Seattle) , Keith is 40 and also lives in the Seattle area at Carnation, Wa. My only girl is 38 and lives here in Butte, Montana. The only one to stay put. I am of Irish decent! Yes, I know how stubborn we can be! :teethysmi When I lost my Peke to cancer, my husband said, No More Dogs! Ha! I said I wanted a Yorkie and he said no! I said, "Don't you tell me what I can do" and promply bought SNoodles! :D The first day, he ignored her, by the second day he was cuddling her and now says it's the best dog we have ever had! So much for telling me what to do! I also have two birds (which he also said I couldn't have. Ha!) A Green Cheek Conure and a Blue Crowned Conure. I love them also. They are sooo cuddly and talk to me (more than my husband does Ha!) I have had unsuccessful back surgery, have lots of arthritis, but love life to it's fullest! I love camping! We went every week-end for a good 45 years. My husband has colon cancer, and throat cancer, and has had 3 heart attacks with by-pass surgery. So, lately, we are going to Drs. Drs. and more Drs. I hope we can get back into the fishing and camping again one day. I went out with my daughter and her 2 little ones last week, and I caught a 10# Rainbow trout! :D I couldn't believe how alive I became with that one. My daughter said it was wonderful to see how excited I got! I have 8 grand children from the ages of 14 to 5 years. I play the bagpipes and belong to a marching band (Lord, it is hard marching and blowing HA!) play the piano at my church every Sunday, and love gardening, reading, crocheting, sewing, and Yorkie Talk!
Pat
