Simmering Spices Does anybody here ever simmer spices on the stove just for the aroma? I would like to and want to know what spices would be good to use. Anyone? Anyone? |
sorry, i just had one for you , but i cant find it anywhere.. i thought i threw it in my pocketbook, guess not.. |
You might try some cloves and cinnamon sticks and boil gently. |
I've used cinnamon.clove, whatever you like. We have a simmer pot that is made to go on top of our woodstove. I've boughten simmering potpourri also. i find them a bit strong. |
I do it all the time! I use a little water, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg and orange zest if I have oranges. I know it is probably a waste but it smells sooooo yummy!! |
I use cin. sticks, nutmeg, and slices of apples mmmmmmmmmmmmm sometimes i'll add some vanilla |
Thanks guys! These are awesome ideas. Will ground cinnamon work like the sticks? I think I might try that for now since I don't have sticks and want to do it NOW! lol Paitence is a virtue that sometimes I run low in  |
yes the ground cin will work too |
i could use like one of those candle things, dont know the name , where you put the oil on top and the votive candle on the bottom.. it heats up the oil, or the cande and smells the house nice. so maybe i could put those ingredients on top w/water and simmer with the candle.. hmmm sounds like im doing it tonight |
You guys have a lots of good ideas. Thanks for sharing. |
I just use a small pot on the stove |
Hard Candy Flavoring You can buy little bottles at the drug store that you put in hard candy...it is usually close by where you get prescriptions filled and it comes in cinnamon etc and I add water with that and it smells good too. I use it in ceramic tart burner with water too. |
