I need ideas on how to make a giant iPhone 2 Attachment(s) So for my final project in Art I have to make an everyday object large (like artist Claus Oldenburg). I've decided to do a giant iPhone but I need ideas on how to make the actual phone itself. I found a website that has the iphone's icons blown up so I'm going to print those Google Image Result for http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1049/1315133790_060b7b0c11_m.jpg. Any ideas?! :) I've attached some pictures of the iPhone for reference. :D |
All I can think of is use GIANT styrofoam, like something a refrigerator was packed in or something. Maybe places that sell refrigerators have stuff they want to throw out. ? OOOhh. maybe drape it then in black silky fabric to give the appearance of shine.... |
Paper mache a rectangular box. You could use an Exacto knife to shave off some of the corners to make them more rounded. You could use foam or Styrofoam but that might be more difficult to obtain. |
can you go to like a hardware store and get that pink insulation styrofoam> You could glue a few together to get it as thick as you need- i know it is MORE than long enough. and then like someone said you can drape it in satin fabric to make it look shiney! You could even print out the icons and use felt to recreate them on the satin!! |

I don't think paper mache will give you the smooth finish you will want. You could also get a foam mattress top and cut that with a razor blade. I think you have some good suggestions so far. |
